Headlines are always made when a new record is made for the longest non-stop flight in the world. When Singapore Airlines got the claim to fame when it relaunched its route between its hub at Singapore Changi International Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport, it was covered in Forbes, BBC News and lots of other media outlets from around the world.
You don’t read many of those kinds of articles about the shortest flight in the world. But then again, that record hasn’t been broken in the over 20 years since the world’s shortest commercial flight was established.
The flight runs daily between two islands in Scotland and not only does it have the claim to fame of being the shortest flight, but it’s also one of, if not the most expensive economy class commercial flight, per mile, that’s out there.
