Happy Wednesday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- Gary from View From The Wing posted a link to someone’s tweet about how she had apparently brought lots and lots of Hot Cheetos with her. His response to it made me chuckle but my only thought was, with the new procedure they started last year, how long she must have taken at the security checkpoint.
- After reading this, I can say that I am NOT ready to visit a nudist resort. That being said, I don’t think I’ll be participating in the World Naked Bike Ride any time soon, either 😉
- Scott at Travel Codex wrote about a country that got the suggestion to ban frequent flyer programs as a way to combat climate change. I still like this idea the best, where we would get significant flight discounts if we showed we were conserving energy.
- Points, Miles & Martinis wrote about a very cool Thanksgiving Day offer in NYC that Delta was offering its cardholders. Joe and I got to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in person last year and our hotel & flight were only $22.40 cash, thanks to Joe’s mad skillz with points and miles, but he booked those almost a year out.
- I read a piece in Bloomberg about the pros and cons of seatback screens. Frankly, I don’t think it matters – as Joe wrote a while back, airlines will never get in-seat entertainment right (even when they don’t offer it).
- Michael from Michael W. Travels wrote about a woman who hacked not paying extra baggage fees when she was told her luggage was 2kg over the maximum weight limit. I hope someone told her about the poor guy in the second half of this post who tried the same thing.
- Joe and I have been writing about Spirit (granted, usually in a cautionary way) for years:

But I have to give them credit – they’ve spent a whole lot of time and money, and been working hard to improve themselves :
— Spirit working with Disney to improve its customer service
— Spirit now on time more than two major airlines
— Spirit Is #1? Wait, did I read that right???
Well, apparently it must be working because the Sun-Sentinel recently reported that Spirit Airlines is investing $250M into a new headquarters, including moving 1000 employees and adding 225 more jobs. - Ben (Lucky) from One Mile At A Time posted a cute story about how British Airways operated a flight from London to Kuala Lumpur that was staffed exclusively by cabin crew who were family members or who had a long family history with the company. It sounds similar to what they did on Father’s Day, doesn’t it?
