The Funniest “Better Than Epic” Travel Ad Ever (Thanks, Coronavirus)

by SharonKurheg

Every country out there has a slogan of some sort. Some are awesome, some, not so much. Some you wonder if whoever wrote it actually got paid for doing that because it’s so awful.

One country’s slogan was always kind of, well, OK. But they just changed it (granted, I’m not sure if it’s an “official” change or not) and it’s now, I would say, better than epic!

The country in question? Estonia.

The northeastern European country’s slogan HAD been “Epic Estonia.” And maybe it officially still is. But the country has an official Twitter account and whoever has been writing it been ramping up its game in recent days.

Visit Estonia‘s Twitter account touts itself as,

The official travel gate to Estonia – a country with medieval charm, northern quality & western mindset. Share your Estonia with us by using #visitestonia šŸ™‚

Since 2009, the site with 12.5K followers has posted tweets about the country and its various cities. It’s been very much a typical “Visit Our City!” sort of account:

But what do you do when you’re a “Visit Our City!” Twitter account during the midst of an international health crisis and you know it’s not wise for people to be traveling?

You post this tweet:

And as far as I’m concerned, between the sentiment and the (censored by me) hashtag, that just totally won the internet.

Whoever wrote this for the Visit Estonia Twitter page deserves a RAISE! šŸ˜‰
