Different people have different priorities when it comes to sitting on a plane. Some want a window seat. Others are happiest sitting on the aisle. Some just want the cheapest seat possible, so they get assigned a middle seat. And although they really have no say it, others simply cross their fingers they don’t get this:
Sometimes though, you know you’re going to want to sleep (or at least try to) so what you’d really like most is one of the more quiet seats on the plane.
So, where are the quietest seats on a plane?
JetBlue posed that question to one of their pilots, Christian P., a while back. This was his reply:
“There’s less noise when you’re sitting forward on the wings. In most planes, the engines are located under the wings. Sitting in the front of the wing is like being behind a speaker. All of the sounds of the engine and the disturbed air are projected away from you.” So there you go. If your main goal is quietness, having a seat in front of the wings will work better for you.
Of course, so will noise-canceling earbuds/headphones 😉
