Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far. Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- I used to view the arrival of the snack cart as the best part of a flight. In light of changing needs, Delta has changed how they’re handing out items. This post from Economy Class and Beyond shows what’s in Delta’s new snack bags and they’re right on the money.
- There’s not much value in a card that earns points for travel right now. But what if you have a card where you’ve earned points that can only be redeemed for travel expenses, like a Capital One Venture card? View from the Wing reports that Venture points can now be used at full value for dining (delivery and take out) and streaming service fees. This is great for people who may have plenty of Capital One points but are low on cash.
- Living in Orlando, we’ve thought about what might not return when Disney World reopens. Las Vegas is in the same place as Orlando but with its own unique problems. On Miles to Memories, Shawn asks when the casinos will open and what’s going to be different when they do.
- Since we’re talking about Disney, there was a great post on Pizza in Motion talking about how this travel shutdown is affecting timeshares. More directly, what’s going to happen to those who own a share of Disney Vacation Club. We’re DVC owners, so we’ve been keeping track of Disney’s response, or lack of one, about what’s going to happen. Ed brings up several challenges timeshares will have and how Disney is uniquely positioned to come up with some creative solutions.
- People are dealing with staying at home in different ways. Some are cleaning and reorganizing their homes while others are reading, watching Tiger King on Netflix, or maybe getting in a little exercise (or at least a walk outside every once in a while. There’s one other thing that’s taking up plenty of people’s time, jigsaw puzzles. Point Me to the Plane looks at why so many people have turned to the puzzles as their go-to stay-at-home activity.
- Mask or no mask? For a while, we were told not to wear them and now we’re being told we have to. In fact, Canadians are now required to have a mask with them when flying and to wear it when social distancing is not possible. If you’re wondering about the reason behind the change, here’s a quick explanation.
- Matthew on Live and Let’s Fly started a lively discussion with his post asking if it’s OK for adults to order items from the kids’ menu. What do you think?
- I’ve had my issues with Chase when trying to get a business credit card, like the Ink Business Preferred. It appears that getting approved by Chase has become more complicated and previously qualified applicants getting denied for new cards.
