Travel between the United States and Canada isn’t happening any time soon, as, according to CTV-News, the border between the two countries has officially been closed for another 30 days, due to concerns of coronavirus.
Travel restrictions between the two countries had begun on March 21 and included all travel except trade, commerce and health care workers who lived on one side of the border and worked on the other. The original order was set to last 30 days.
The president of the United States has recently been talking about opening the U.S. as quickly as possible and had already unveiled a 3-stage plan to do so. He also projected last week that the border with Canada could open soon.
However, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had his own projections about that, saying, “We do not feel that reopening the border any time soon is likely. My responsibility is to ensure the protection and safety of Canadians, that is what we will continue to do, and the conversation with the Americans has been extremely aligned and extremely productive,” said Trudeau.
The two countries then agreed to extend the current closure and restrictions for at least another 30 days.
