One of the tricks large travel companies are trying to keep customers engaged with their brand during this lockdown is sharing “secret” recipes. Hilton is getting into the act and releasing their famous chocolate chip cookie recipe. Is this the actual way that the DoubleTree’s cookies are made? Probably not. An industrial production kitchen works on a scale you can’t imagine. But these directions are the best attempt they could figure out that could let you try and reproduce the product at home.
Truthfully, once someone tells you that this is the DoubleTree cookie recipe, you’re going to think it tastes right, even if it doesn’t.
If you read closely, Hilton tells you this isn’t the REAL recipe.
For the first time ever, DoubleTree by Hilton is sharing the official bake-at-home recipe for the brand’s beloved and delicious chocolate chip cookie, so at-home bakers can create the warm and comforting treat in their own kitchens.
The official BAKE-AT-HOME recipe. So it’s a cookie that’s like the one at the hotel. I still decided to give it a go since we had all of the ingredients at home. They came out pretty good.

While these cookies are good, they’re not my favorite. That honor goes to another “secret” recipe my mom received by a chain letter in the 1980s. It claimed that the Mrs. Fields cookie recipe was purchased for $250 and the purchaser wanted to share it with everyone.
Mrs. Fields denied the story:
Mrs. Fields recipe has never been sold. There is a rumor circulating that the Mrs. Fields Cookie recipe was sold to a woman at a cost of $250. A chocolate-chip cookie recipe was attached to the story. I would like to tell all my customers that this story is not true, this is not my recipe and I have not sold the recipe to anyone. Mrs. Fields recipe is a delicious trade secret
I don’t care if the story isn’t true. The cookies are my favorite homemade chocolate-chip variation. They do share one thing with the DoubleTree cookies – oatmeal.
The recipe, almost word for word from my mom’s index card, can be found here. If you’re going to make these, my mom left some hints. To grate a Hershey’s candy bar, it helps if you freeze it first. Mix the chocolate into the flour while still dry. Her final note – DO NOT OVERBAKE!!!!
Unless you’re making this as a gift to your local essential workers, I’d wait until we’re able to meet other people again because this recipe makes approximately 144 cookies.
I wish we could all be out traveling, eating in restaurants, seeing concerts and movies and just hanging out with friends but we’re not. During times like these, sometimes you just want a cookie.
