Hotel BOGO Program Developed To Generate Revenue, Give Back

We all know that hotels are hurting. It’s challenging to plan a hotel stay, especially overseas, when so much else about travel is still up in the air. So the majority of potential travelers just aren’t making reservations.

Of course hotels, and the hospitality industry in general, are brainstorming ways to make some money wherever they can. So to help jumpstart travel, and thank healthcare workers for everything they’ve done during the coronavirus health crisis, the hospitality industry has banded together to introduce a BOGO deal.

In this case, BOGO stands for “Buy One, Give One.”

The program is being offered as a what’s being called a “vacay layaway,” wherein you can buy future travel now, either in the form of bookings or gift cards. With your purchase, participating hotel brands and properties will donate room nights, gift cards or loyalty points to select charitable organizations to distribute as a “thank you” to the healthcare workers who have been working on the front lines. They, in turn, will be able to redeem them for their own future leisure stays.

The donation recipients are the American Nurses Association and NewYork-Presbyterian.

American Nurses Association (ANA), “is the premier organization representing the interests of the nation’s 4 million registered nurses. ANA is at the forefront of improving the quality of health care for all. Founded in 1896, and with members in all 50 states and U.S. territories, ANA is the strongest voice for the profession.

NewYork-Presbyterianis one of the nation’s most comprehensive, integrated academic healthcare systems. Founded nearly 250 years ago with the fundamental belief that every person deserves access to the very best care, NewYork-Presbyterian now encompasses 10 hospital campuses across Greater New York, more than 200 primary and specialty care clinics and medical groups, and an array of telemedicine services.”

About The Program:

The program currently has 37 participating properties worldwide, with familiar names such as Fairmont, Renaissance and Library Hotel collection, as well as multiple individual properties to choose from.

Different properties have different deals. For example:

1.) Spend $180 and receive a $200 gift certificate =  We donate 1 room night
2.) Spend $350 and receive a $400 gift certificate plus 2 fluffy signature Staypineapple bath sheets = We donate 2 room nights
3.) Spend $850 and receive a $1000 gift certificate plus a 1 full set of  fluffy signature Staypineapple towels (2 bath sheets, 2 hand towels, 2 washcloths, 1 bathmat) = We donate 5 room nights

Library Hotel collection (select locations): For every dollar you spend now on prepaid gift vouchers, for a future great experience at our hotels, Library Hotel Collection has pledged to match 50% of the net proceeds by donating vouchers to the essential workers at New York-Presbyterian Hospitals.

Fairmont (worldwide): For every $300 in gift cards purchased Fairmont Hotels will donate a room night to healthcare workers.

Outrigger Hotels and Resorts (Hawaii): For every booking at participating properties now through June 30, 2020, Outrigger will give a free night at one of our Waikiki hotels to healthcare workers post-crisis. Our goal is to provide up to 1,000 nights to these courageous heroes.
