- To apply for a new credit card from Chase, you needed to be below 5/24. Up until now that number only counted new card applications but it appears that they are expanding the scope of the rule and credit line increase requests as one of the five applications. It’s understandable that Chase wouldn’t want to give additional credit to customers during a global financial slowdown. It’s just one more thing to keep in mind before applying for a new Chase card.
- During the coronavirus outbreak, people are looking for safe places to travel. I wrote about several socially distant places that came to mind, The main problem was that many people were thinking the same thing. What if you took your ideas a step further and went where no one wanted to go? That’s what one blogger did, redeeming 112,500 Marriott Bonvoy points for three nights in a two-bedroom villa in Orlando that didn’t charge any resort or parking fees. Even with the themeparks closed, the hotel’s amenities and full kitchen ensuite allowed them to maintain social distance from other guests.
- Occasionally, I’m asked by other travel bloggers to be a guest on a podcast. This week, Ed Pizza invited me to talk about some of the travel headlines, including our post about Spirit Airlines. The rest of the episode was an interview with a hotel executive who discussed what amenities will look like post-COVID. - Hawaii has been closed to outside visitors since March. State residents are finally allowed to travel between islands without quarantine and the government announced a plan to welcome guests starting August 1st, with some heavy restrictions including pre-testing before travel. Despite many guests making plans to flock to the islands, the current spike of Coronavirus cases on the mainland, particularly in California, might have Hawaii changing its mind about reopening. The Lieutenant Governor said that the August 1st date may not happen and any further date will only be announced two weeks in advance, once the virus is under control.
