The world of travel has not had a lot of good news recently. Felled by a worldwide pandemic, headlines tout airlines practically begging for passengers, hotels continually show how clean and safe they are, and, of course, hundreds of thousands of people who can never travel again because they’ve passed away. So just ANY good news is like a ray of sunshine. With that, here’s some sunshine for today.
It seems that someone’s toy dalmatian was left behind outside the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport’s (CVG) security checkpoint. To help find the toy pup’s owner, they, of course, took to Twitter:
We think this guy missed his flight at CVG this morning! We found him hanging out by Starbucks outside of our security checkpoint.
Look familiar? Help us share so we can get him home. 🐶 #CVGnext #airporttwitter pic.twitter.com/3aIQce0fbQ

With no immediate response from the little guy’s family, they gave the pup a grand tour of the airport:
Our friend had a busy day, getting to go out on the airfield/runway & going on plane engine inspections.
He(?) also got to hang out w/@TSA K9 Officer Dafi, but not for long, since he was on the clock.🙂
We are getting closer to cracking the case, pls keep sharing!#CVGnext https://t.co/7CExWJ7BZL pic.twitter.com/NR7GDqPb1u

The next day he even got an unofficial name from the airport and became an official CVG ID, complete with all-important parking privileges!
"Jet" is an official CVG employee!
Today he toured our firehouse, then stopped by @corknbottle but didn't have his ID on him (don't you hate when that happens?). 🥃#CVGnext #airporttwitter
We're getting really close to finding his home. Share for updates. 🐶 https://t.co/pM7EoS1y66 pic.twitter.com/y1AcW5AMOP

Allegiant Airlines even got involved in trying to find “Jet’s” owner…
Our friends at @Allegiant are helping us solve the case with Jet.
Our followers have helped us reach over half a million people on social media. You‘re the BEST!
Social media connects us during a time when we‘ve been apart. Let’s make this reunion happen together! #CVGnext https://t.co/JpabKxX33n

A few days later he even gets some ice cream from a local ice cream chain at the airport (don’t they know dogs are lactose intolerant?)
Today we took Jet to Graeter's Ice Cream in Concourse A, because he had never tried it before. That's when it dawned on us – he can't be from here if he's never had Graeter's!
We visited the Allegiant counter, & we're getting really close… something about "pie"…🐶#CVGnext https://t.co/J731aeE2vg pic.twitter.com/pjXB0HDC2O

Finally…FINALLY…his owner was located and “Jet” was on his way!
BIG news: Jet is heading home to @iflypie tomorrow on @Allegiant!
We can't wait for his big send-off. ✈️

He even brought a friend with him on the way back to his home in Florida:
Heading your way, @iflypie! We made sure to send Jet home with a new friend…. a Cincinnati flying pig. 🙂🐷✈️ @RunFlyingPig #CVGnext #airporttwitter pic.twitter.com/WNdi5YrZwP

And HAPPY DAY, “Jet” was finally reunited with his owner, whose name is Jaydence. Jet, whose real name is “Masch Masch,” was a gift from the judge who finalized Jaydence’s adoption 2 years earlier, so he’s a VERY important part of the family!
Thank you SO much to our followers, who helped spread the word. & bigger thanks to our friends at @Allegiant & @flytopie, who went out of their way to help.
During these times of staying apart, we came together to make this happen. 🐶 ❤️ #CVGnext ✈️ #airporttwitter

According to NBC affiliate WLWT Channel 5, Jaydence, along with his two brothers, Sully and Corbin, live in Florida. According to their mom, Phyllis, she and her husband were fostering all three boys but as each one came up for adoption, they adopted him. Each child got a stuffed animal from the judge on their adoption and Jet/Masch Masch was Jaydence’s.
The family was in Cincinnatti and Indianapolis, visiting friends, and Jaydence wound up leaving Masch Masch behind at the airport. That’s when Allegiant and airport personnel joined forces to help find the toy pup’s home.
I love a happy ending, don’t you? 🙂
