The A350-900 is the new flagship of the Delta fleet. For those who could book seats in the front of the plane, the A350 featured the new Delta One fully-enclosed suites. Not everyone can book these seats and for the rest of us, selections were limited.
One step down from Delta One was a new category of seats called “Premium Select.”
A new, superior Delta cabin available on select international routes. You’ll find more space to stretch out and relax with a wider seat, and additional recline, and an adjustable footrest and leg rest on select widebody aircraft*. Plus, with plated meals, you can cruise in complete comfort with an enhanced travel experience every time you fly Delta Premium Select.
For those used to products on other airlines, this sounds much like a “Premium Economy” seat. Besides this, the only other seat available was a Main Cabin (economy) seat.
According to Delta’s website, there will soon be four-cabin A350-900 planes that feature a Delta Comfort+ section behind the Premium Select seats.
The Comfort+ seats offer an additional 3 inches of seat pitch. The additional legroom does cause a decrease in seat width by 1-2 inches for both the Comfort+ and Economy seats.
Both aircraft configurations offer the same 306 seats. Because the Delta Comfort+ seats offer more legroom for four rows of seats, the rest of the economy section gets 1-2 inches less legroom per row.
This is an improvement for the people who pay for extra legroom or get an upgraded seat because of their status. Passengers paying for an economy ticket will get a less comfortable ride so those four rows of passengers can stretch out a little bit more. I’ll leave it to you to determine if this is a positive development or not.

Think there is an error to correct in yours post. The Comfort+ seats will decrease the seat pitch (not width) for the Main Cabin/Economy seats. I believe you said width in error.
According to the Delta Website, Main cabin seats are 18 inches wide with 31-33 in the three-cabin layout and 16.19-17.4 inches wide with a pitch of 31-32 inches in the four-cabin layout. So main cabin seats are losing width and pitch by adding Comfort+.
