Flight Cancelled When 200 Passengers Had Identical COVID Test Results

A flight was recently canceled when it was discovered that the COVID-19 test results of almost 200 passengers were identical.

The Moscow Times reports that Russian airline Pegas Fly had to cancel a flight from Moscow, Russia, to Zhengzhou, China not long ago, because the results of COVID-19 tests of more than 190 passengers were found to be exactly the same.

“On November 25, when our embassy checked the results of nucleic acid tests and serological tests for antibodies on passengers on Moscow-Zhengzhou flight EO429, Pegas Fly, it was found that the results of serological tests for antibodies in more than 190 passengers on the flight are completely the same,” Chinese authorities reported on WeChat. “There is no way to guarantee the reliability of these tests, and as a result, passengers were not able to get a ‘health code’ to board.”

In Moscow, the Chinese Embassy had warned over the summer that some of its citizens had been forging negative COVID test results to fly back home to China. However, it doesn’t appear the forgings were done on this large of a scale.

The organization that conducted the testing could not provide a reasonable explanation as to why all the test results were the same. The operator of Pegas Fly also could not explain what happened.

The Chinese Embassy has asked the airline to arrange for new tests to accommodate the Chinese nationals who are stuck in Moscow.
