You may have read in a few places that the TSA had recently updated their rules to say that full-sized sunscreen containers (read: larger than 3.4 ounces) were now allowed in carry-on bags because they fell under the category of being “medically necessary” (read: the helped prevent skin cancer). So effective April 7th, if you wanted to bring a full-sized bottle on suntan lotion with you on the plane, you just had to, “…declare them to security officers at the checkpoint for inspection,” according to the administration.
Dermatologists were probably jumping for joy at this update. But unfortunately, that information turned out to be a mistake. From TSA’s Twitter:
Our website incorrectly reported that sunscreen containers larger than 3.4 oz. were allowed in carry-on bags if medically necessary. That error has been corrected. Sunscreen in carry-on bags must be 3.4 oz. or less. Larger quantities should be placed in checked baggage.

Oh. Never mind.
Just hope that none of y’all bought one of those mega-size bottles of Coppertone at Costco…
