Happy Sunday to all our travel friends, both near and far. Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, so we’re passing them along.
- For a long time, airlines have offered vouchers to passengers to take a later flight when a flight is oversold. That’s because it’s a better business decision than involuntarily removing someone from a flight if there’s no other option. We took a later flight on American Airlines and received a voucher for a future flight but it wasn’t until later on that we found out all of the restrictions on those vouchers. It seems that American has made changes to their vouchers, making them easier to use.
- If you’ve stayed at a higher-tier hotel, you’ve undoubtedly seen the Concierge Desk. How good are these concierges? Depending on the hotel, the services may vary from finding overpriced theater tickets to walking you through town to find the Christmas ornament you saw and wanted for your travel tree.
- During the pandemic, it’s become easier to earn or keep elite status. In fact, you’re able to earn status without even leaving your home. But that leads me to ask again if everyone has elite status, is anyone really elite?
- We’ve been following the saga of the Swan Reserve hotel at Disney World for a while and it’s anyone’s guess when the hotel will open. We’ve heard from several friends who have reservations canceled but this post shows how the hotel is handling the reservations of cash customers differently from those who have booked rooms with points.
- During the pandemic, most hotel chains suspended the points expiration policies in their loyalty programs. Even the lower-level programs have followed this trend but not without some hiccups. For instance, Choice Privileges was supposed to extend points until the end of 2021 but some members have noticed their accounts zeroed out. If that happens to you, here’s how to fix the problem.
- While we consider ourselves a small fish in the travel blog ocean, our posts do get noticed. For instance, Orlando Airport wrote us on Twitter when posted we had to re-clear security due to our own mistake. While we apologized for saying they hadn’t fixed the problem (which they had), we were surprised to receive another message telling us that they’ve made changes to the signage at the airport based on our suggestions. Does this make us influencers? I hope not.
Hiya! We saw your other article saying sorry (that was very cute, but please, no apologies needed ever) and it actually made us realize of some changes we should do. The sign by the doors that says to gates 30-59, is actually saying gates 30-129 which can be confusing, so we’ll have that adjusted to gates 30-59 only. The APM on the right is the one carrying also the sign by the door stating to take the other APM for other gates. We appreciate you bringing this situation to our attention so we can properly adjust the one sign for even more clarity to our passengers. Attaching the pics here so you can see what we’re talking about the difference of the 2 APM and the signs by it. Thanks once again for your suggestions.
- Finally, we’ve previously linked to a post about how Rudy Giuliani doesn’t know how to act when in an airport lounge. The years haven’t been kind to Rudy and instead of spending time at the Emirates lounge in Milan, he’s now taken to shaving while sitting at a table in the Delta SkyClub at JFK. Whatever your politics, there’s no world where this is acceptable behavior.
