Part of me blocked out this part of our last flights on American Airlines. Looking back at our pictures, it reminded me that American Airlines assigned us two of the worst seats on a 737-800 when we paid for flights using British Airways Avios.
Before the flight, I looked at the seat map and was surprised that we were assigned seats that would usually cost an additional $20 each.
Instead of being happy, I should have gone to SeatGuru and looked at the flight map. Our seats, 12A and 13A were flagged on the seat map.
What was the warning about the seats? Seat 12A is missing a window.
Not much better is the misaligned window for seat 13A.
Did this ruin the flight? Of course, it didn’t. We were finally on our way back to Texas to eat some barbeque and visit the best waterpark in the world.
Is it only a coincidence that American Airlines assigned us two of the worst seats on the plane for tickets we paid 9,000 Avios each for? Possibly?
Know what? I don’t care. When I’m sitting in a window seat, I’m usually sleeping while leaning against the window for most of the flight. However, before we take off, I now clean the wall of the plane with a Lysol wipe.
While I could have changed my seat assignments, most of the rest of the plane was full which is why we ended up in seats that would typically require an upcharge. I feel sorry for anyone who pays American Airlines an extra $21 for a window seat with no window.

it seems like you can no longer find AA flights on BA.com using avios points any more.
I hate that row without a window. To make matters better, I pretend that I am James Bond flying on a secret mission in a C17.
When on a CRJ, I pretend that the seating is on the Concorde, which was 2+2 seating.
First mistake was flying on American.
I’m sitting here trying to see if buying the half window is worth it to be closer to the front of the plane.
