In November 2021, the Quality Suites Lake Buena Vista on Palm Parkway sold for 13.3 million dollars. In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, the new owner announced that the hotel would soon be rebranded as a Radisson.
We thought Radisson would be a good idea because right now there aren’t any Radissons in Orlando.
He also said that the hotel would be unique for Radisson as the hotel is an all-suite property. The hotel, which had been closed throughout the pandemic, put up signs advertising it as a Radisson.
It’s true that there is no Radisson brand hotel in Orlando. The last one, Radisson Resort Orlando Celebration, left the chain in 2018 and is still operating without a brand affiliation (despite its claim of becoming a part of Marriott).
Radisson Hotel Americas has two Country Inn & Suites properties, one located near the airport and the other near International Drive.
It’s a few months later and I went to check on the hotel. I looked on the Radisson website and found the property.

Turns out that Radisson Americas put the Country Inn & Suites flag on the hotel. This makes sense since it’s an all-suite hotel.
I’m curious about why the new owner of the hotel went out of his way in an interview to say his hotel would be the only Radisson hotel in Orlando before knowing it would be a Radisson. Maybe he’s new to the company and didn’t know all of their different brands and that a former Quality Suites isn’t going to meet the Radisson brand standard.
I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with the Country Inn & Suites brand. And if you’re visiting Disney or Sea World, this hotel is the best located of the three Radisson brand options in Orlando. But it’s still not a Radisson property.
I hope that the hotel has taken down the big homemade RADISSON sign.
