- When you’re on an airplane, the Wi-Fi isn’t any more private than any other public network. That’s why you should be careful about what you do while online and use a VPN if possible. If you have an iPhone, you should also have AirDrop turned off (or set to only receive from known contacts). If not, a 10-year old passenger can send you a message that results in the plane being treated as a security risk.
- Breeze Airlines is off to a fast start for a new airline. They’ve just announced 35 new routes and now they’ve partnered with ViaSat to provide the inflight internet for their A220-300s. I’ve been very impressed with the price and quality of the service from ViaSat on flights with Delta and American.
- After a long travel day, I want to get to my room and relax. However, some hotels make this difficult because they insist on bringing you to your room. Does anyone enjoy having to chat with a stranger about amenities you’ll never use? This practice also is why I have to remember to bring trip money when we travel.
- One bit of welcome news in December 2021 was when the White House said that passport renewals would start to be done electronically. Even with the government saying the program would begin in December, I figured it would take months or even years for the program to get up to speed. I was wrong because reports are coming in from people who processed a renewal online, and it only took a week. That’s incredible since the estimated wait time is 1 month, depending on if you include the time it takes the Post Office to deliver it to you.
- While many things have changed since 2019, one thing that’s remained is that Spirit still charges fees for everything. If you’re considering a flight on Spirit it’s best to be an informed consumer by learning all the things you’ll be asked to pay for.
- Many regular people stepped up in the last two weeks to help the people of Ukraine. One inventive way people sent money to the country was by booking Airbnb rooms. Of course, now scammers are listing fake properties. If you’re thinking of using Airbnb to support Ukraine, you need to research to ensure it’s an established host and not a company or even a Russian hacker.
