Hotels Near Walt Disney World Where You Can Use Hyatt Cat 1-4 Free Night

by SharonKurheg

Several hotel credit cards give you a free night at one of their establishments every year when you pay the annual fee. The cool thing is this free night benefit is often worth more than the cost of keeping the credit card, doesn’t require you to spend a certain amount of money on the card, and doesn’t require you to have any points in your account. It’s simply a free night, including tax.

It makes sense to try to get the most value out of the free night and I’ve read articles listing the places around the world where you can get the most expensive room. Instead of that approach, I looked at a place many people travel to each year. Walt Disney World (WDW). If you can stretch your vacation one more day by using a free night, that could be very valuable to you and your family.

If you have the World of Hyatt Card from Chase ($95 annual fee), you get a free night at any category 1-4 hotel or resort after your cardmember anniversary. With your free night, you can stay at some pretty great Hyatt hotels around WDW.

Here are two Hyatt Hotels in the WDW area where you can use your free night:

Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress

This 815 room Category 4 Hyatt is located just off Disney property, near Disney Springs. It’s a resort in its own right, with 36 holes of golf, a lagoon-style pool and a full-service spa on site.

Valet parking here will cost you $40 per day, and self-parking will cost $27. As per the hotel website, there’s also a daily $40 resort fee which includes:

  • Four Round-Trip transportations to Disney, Daily
  • One Round-Trip transportation to Universal Orlando, Daily
  • Two Bottles of Water, Daily
  • Scheduled Daily Transportation to Disney Springs
  • 24 Hour Access to Stay-Fit Fitness Center
  • 8 Hole Pitch n’ Putt Course
  • Walk-in Court Times at Racquet Club (Racquet and Balls included)
  • Bike Rentals
  • Rock Climbing Wall
  • Sailboats, paddleboards, kayaks and paddleboat rentals
  • Daily scheduled activities
  • 5 Miniature Golf Course alongside Pitch n Putt.
  • 10% Discount on 50 Minute or longer Spa/Salon Services and Retail at Marilyn Monroe Spa
  • Basketball and Volleyball Court (including ball) Usage
  • 1 Mile & 3 Mile Mapped Outdoor Jogging Courses
  • 10% Discount on Recreation Retail & Cabanas (not to include F&B)

Note that Hyatt’s website does say that Resort Fees are waived for all guests on “free award nights.”

If the Grand Cypress isn’t your style, just down the road is the

Hyatt Place Orlando/Lake Buena Vista

This 169-room, Category 2 hotel opened in 2016 after a complete refurbishment.

Hyatt-Place-Orlando

I’m a convert to the Hyatt Place brand after our stay at one of their hotels in Raleigh, NC. Standard rooms at this hotel start at 370 – 424 square feet, with one king or two queen beds. This looks like a very comfortable room to spread out in during a WDW vacation.

Unlike the Hyatt Grand Cypress, the Hyatt Place has complimentary, outdoor self-parking. This hotel does not charge a resort fee.

Final Thoughts

Choosing between the two Hyatt Hotels in the WDW area might depend on what type of hotel you are looking for. The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is a destination with golf courses, swimming pools, tennis courts, a spa and restaurants. This hotel also charges accordingly for those services. The Hyatt Place is a great hotel that gives you complimentary breakfast, free parking and larger rooms but lacks the resort feel of the Grand Cypress. I could see each of these hotels appealing to guests, depending on what you’re looking for in your vacation. When we used to vacation at Disney World (before we moved to 9 miles from WDW), all we wanted a room for was a place to rest between spending time in the theme parks. I could see us spending some time at the Hyatt Place, but Your Mileage May Vary.

Just stayed at Grand Cyprus for 3 days using free certs for GotG previews. Nice hotel with updated rooms. Took Uber to parks and was around $10 -$15 each way. I’d stay there again on free nights. If paying cash….Swan/Dolphin win.
