In May 2022, Delta Airlines unveiled changes to its SkyClub access policies that would begin on June 1, 2022. The reason for these negative changes was to alleviate some overcrowding issues at many SkyClubs around the US.
The two main changes were:
- You could only access a SkyClub 3 hours before your departure time.
- Access was limited to your departure city and connecting airport, eliminating the ability to access a SkyClub upon arrival.
The collective roar from people who either purchased a membership or those who have a credit card (like the AMEX Platinum Card) because of the SkyClub access was heard in the Delta Executive Suites. While the three-hour limit stayed in effect, eliminating entry upon arrival never went into effect.
Delta spun the backtracking as showing they’re listening to their customers.
We heard your feedback in response to the updates, including that some customers want to visit a Club to refresh after landing or to recharge ahead of a meeting. … We value your input — and we’ve acted on it.
This change (or lack thereof) to the Delta Skyclub entrance policy was highly promoted in the travel media, and was emailed to customers with access to the clubs.
I read about the changes at the time. While I have access to the Delta SkyClubs with my Platinum AMEX card, I don’t often visit them. At the moment, I have a trip planned where I might need to wait for a ride and I’d like to spend the time at a SkyClub upon arrival, so I went to the Delta website to confirm the entrance policy.
While it’s been three months since the change was eliminated, the Delta website shows that access to the SkyClub is limited to 3 hours of departure and at connecting airports.
Beginning June 1, 2022, customers will be able to access Delta Sky Clubs anytime within 3 hours of their scheduled departure time† (and connecting customers can continue to access Clubs at any time prior to departure)
†Delta 360 Members and customers with a Lifetime Delta Sky Club Membership will be exempt from this policy.
Given, that the website doesn’t mention anything about access upon arrival. Does that mean it’s allowed or forbidden?
I guess I’ll have to try to visit after landing at my destination to find out.

Haven’t used it on arrival since 2015 at CDG. Previous policy was if you were flying internationally in a premium cabin, you could use a special arrivals lounge or something to that effect, where available. Helps when you arrive in the AM and your hotel room won’t be ready until the afternoon. Great to shower and change after a red eye. Don’t know if that still is in place.
Question: if I get upgraded to first class on a domestic flight, does that give me lounge access?
No. Having a first-class domestic ticket does not give any club access.
