Hilton Honors must think I’m a prime target to purchase a Hilton Vacation Club membership because they’re constantly flooding my email with offers.
Most times I’ll get an offer for a very low price for a 3-4 night stay at a Hilton Vacation Club resort in Orlando, Myrtle Beach or Las Vegas. This shows how targeted of an offer it is because why would I pay to stay 5 miles from my home in Orlando? But I’m straying from the topic…
Over the Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend, which apparently bleeds into the following week, I received a new offer. I can get an inexpensive hotel room, and Hilton will throw in 100,000 Hilton Honors points.
Guests must purchase by December 13, 2022, to enjoy a 4-day/3-night stay $149 plus tax in Orlando, Florida; Las Vegas, Nevada; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Scottsdale, Arizona or Daytona Beach, Florida
at a participating hotel within the Hilton portfolio of brands (valued at $175-$500/night). Guests will receive 100,000 Hilton Honors™ Bonus Points (valued at $1,000) after attending a sales presentation.
Three nights in Las Vegas for $149 and getting 100,000 Hilton points doesn’t sound like a bad deal. We paid for a stay at the Hilton Grand Vacations on Paradise and had a great time. One of the best things was not having to walk through a casino to get to our room and while we still had to pay a resort fee, self-parking was complimentary.
Getting 100,000 Hilton Honors points is a big bonus but is it worth sitting through a sales presentation?
First of all, I have a problem with Hilton saying that 100,000 points are worth $1,000. On average, you’ll get around 0.5 to 0.6 points on most stays but I’m sure there are ways to get up to 1 cent per point of value if you find the right hotel.
I’m sorry, but I’m not going for this offer.
First of all, we already have a timeshare with Disney which we hardly ever use except when we visit Hawaii. Secondly, I only have limited vacation time and don’t want to spend any of it sitting in a room listening about how the money I spend on vacations could be better spent by purchasing their timeshare.
However, I could see how this offer could be a huge win for some people if they’re willing to sit through the sales pitch and not end up buying a timeshare they didn’t want.
Three nights in any of the cities in the offer would always cost more than $50 a night when staying at a timeshare resort. The 100,000 Hilton points are easily worth $500 or more, so you’re getting paid to go on vacation and the only expense is a few hours of your time.
Your Mileage May Vary. We have enough hotel points where I don’t need to sit through a timeshare presentation on my vacation to stay at a nice resort. But if you’re low on points and cash but have plenty of time, this could be a great offer to get two vacations for $150.
Check your email (and spam folder) to see if you were targeted for any offers.
