New 75K Bonus For Citi American Airlines Business Card

by joeheg

I came across something interesting this morning when I was looking at the comments for our site. In response to our post about the CitiBusiness / AAdvantage Platinum Select Mastercard, a reader mentioned that the Citi website for applications wasn’t working. This was concerning because the same thing just happened with the Barclays American AAdvantage business card and that one hasn’t come back.

I confirmed that when clicking on the link, which I had verified just the day before, it was in fact dead.

Running a website, I know there are many things that can go wrong that result in a 404 error. I dug around and eventually found a live link to the application page, which was originally going to be the basis for this post.

When I came back after making my morning coffee, I clicked on the old (dead) link again but now it was working. And much to my surprise, there’s a limited-time sign-up bonus offer.

a screenshot of a websiteWith the increased offer you’ll earn 75,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles after $6,000 in purchases within the first 6 months of account opening.

The previous offer was for 65,000 bonus miles for spending $4,000 in 4 months. For spending an extra $2,000, you get an additional 10,000 miles and you have up to 6 months to hit the requirement. That’s not an unreasonable amount for a business card nowadays.

The rest of the details seem to have remained the same, including Citi’s co-brand AAdvantage cards’ 48-month restriction to be eligible for the signup bonus.

American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles are not available if you have received a new account bonus for a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® account in the past 48 months

Citi doesn’t give us any heads-up when they’re changing the sign-up bonuses as we have no marketing agreement with them. I don’t know how long this increased bonus is going to last but if you were looking at this card anyway, it might make sense to act sooner rather than later.
