Viva Las Solo-Trip: Finding the Best Vegas Hotel for One

Vegas, baby!

If you’ve followed this website for any length of time, you may already know that Sharon and I have a love/hate relationship with Las Vegas. And when I say that, what I really mean is I love going there, and she hates it. Although saying that I love Vegas is probably inaccurate. I find reasons to visit Las Vegas and enjoy it while I’m there. On the other hand, Sharon doesn’t like it. Like, she really doesn’t like it.

Which makes it difficult for us to visit unless there’s a good reason. And we just got a good reason to visit.

Cirque du Soleil’s “The Beatles LOVE,” currently playing at The Mirage, will close on July 7, 2024. This is the one Cirque show that we both liked. The combination of music from The Beatles and the artistry of Cirque de Soleil made it a great experience when we visited in 2017. We had plans to see the show again in 2022, but we changed our minds and went to New York City instead.

Where to stay in Las Vegas

While we’d both like to see the show again, I liked it more. We already have travel planned for almost every month until the fall, and our dog isn’t getting any younger. To keep from having to place her in the kennel for yet another trip, Sharon said she’d stay at home. So I’m planning on going solo.

The question is, where should I stay?

The last time I planned a trip, we had status with MGM from the Hyatt match. Now that’s gone. Sharon has Caesars Diamond from her Wyndham status, but she’s not coming.

What’s your go-to Las Vegas hotel? I’m not looking to break the bank or have a luxury experience. I just need a room for two nights. I checked out the Virgin Hotel Las Vegas, a Hilton Curio property, but that seemed a bit pricey. There has to be a way to hack Vegas hotels, even if you’re not a gambler.
