I Really Like Autoslash’s Latest Rental Preferences Feature

I’ve been using Autoslash to find the cheapest rental car prices for over a decade. Once I make a reservation, ‘I’ll go back to Autoslash and track the reservation. If you’re unfamiliar with this feature, all you need to do is put in your rental information and the price quote. Autoslash will continually check the prices and notify you if they find a lower rate. I’ve had prices drop all the way until I was on the plane to my destination and booked a new rental on the plane’s Wi-Fi.

The only downside to this system is that the lowest prices are usually offered by rental car companies that I wouldn’t choose to use. I’m not willing to save $10 by renting from an off-site agency that doesn’t offer a program allowing me to preregister and skip the line. It’s not Autoslash’s fault because all they’re doing is showing me a lower price. It’s when I receive an email every day telling me of a lower price, only to click and see it’s the same one they sent yesterday and the day before.

I’m glad to report that Autoslash has apparently listened to the customers and now lets you choose which companies you’d want to rent from if their prices are lower.

I received an email today about a lower price for an upcoming rental. Unfortunately, it’s from an off-airport agency and requires a shuttle. The company also only gets a 1 & 1/2 star rating. At the top of the page, I noticed a new link where you can adjust your preferences for a tracking request.  a close-up of a sign

The first option lets you select between prepaid and pay-at-counter rates.

The next selection is if you’d like to rent a gas vehicle, EV or no preference.

The final sort allows you to select which rental car companies you want to rent from. The companies are sorted into two sections. The first group are the major companies you’ll usually find at the airport.

Then there’s everyone else. This list is extensive, including seemingly every rental car agency. Fortunately, it’s easy to just click “Uncheck All.”

When finished making your selections, Autoslash will save your preferences. Your choices only apply to the reservation you’re tracking, so you’ll have to do this each time you track a new rental.

Final Thought

I was already a big fan of Autoslash. I like their service even more now that I can stop getting lower-price offers from Ace, Fox, and Easirent.
