Lounge Review: AMEX Centurion Lounge at Las Vegas Airport

by joeheg

The last time we went to Las Vegas, I forgot to check which lounges were at the airport. That meant I didn’t go to the AMEX Centurion Lounge but to the very disappointing Club as LAS instead. This time, I wasn’t going to make the same mistake. While I wasn’t actively planning on spending several hours in the lounge, those plans changed due to flight delays on American Airlines and my subsequent booking of a last-minute flight home with Spirit.

Fortunately, the Las Vegas Centurion Lounge is a nice place to spend some time. Well, that is, if you can get in because of the long lines.

The Centurion Lounge is located near gate D1.

While there wasn’t a line on the day I left, that wasn’t the case as I passed the lounge on a Sunday afternoon when I arrived in Las Vegas. This is going to be the case at most airports, where the lounge experience will vary depending on when you’re visiting.

The Centurion Lounge entrance in Las Vegas is like most AMEX lounges, with a blue door and a signature green wall. I joked with the agent about the line I saw a few days earlier, and he said that the airport was crazy over the weekend, and it was nice to have a calm morning for a change.

The entry room has a selection of seating arrangements. I grabbed a cubby along the wall, which was great for relaxing but not great for working. I eventually moved to a space more conducive to working.

There was a section of the club reserved for Centurion Cardholders, which remained empty during my stay.

The bar and dining area remained the most crowded throughout my stay. Tables to the side were always full, so I took a place along the windows at the back of the room.

The food at Centurion Lounges is a step above what you’ll find at other airport lounges. I admit that my food pictures aren’t the best. However, the chicken was tasty, despite its appearance. Since I wasn’t going to get a snack on my Spirit flight, I had my full of lounge food before heading to my plane.

Final thought

The Centurion Lounge at Las Vegas Airport isn’t the largest one I’ve visited. I can see why the line can get long to enter during busy times. While I wasn’t overly impressed when I entered, I had to admit it was a much better place to spend several hours during my flight delay. I was able to reschedule my travel plans, have a decent meal and get some work done in a comfortable environment.

That’s why people value lounge access. Otherwise, I’d be sitting in the terminal, looking for a power outlet and working on my lap while watching to see when my flight was delayed.
