Delta Airlines operates out of Terminal 4Ā at JFK Airport, which is a huge building. The walk from the TSA checkpoint to the gates at the very end of the terminal can take a while. When we were leaving the Chase Sapphire Lounge, which is in the main shopping area, heading to gate B55, the Delta app’s feature told us to walk toward the A gates. I thought this must be a glitch, so we walked all the way, getting our steps in for the day.
It turns out this wasn’t a mistake, as the app was trying to take us to the Delta JFK Jitney Bus!
The JFK Jitney
We had to use the Jitney back when Delta operated out of both Terminal 2 and Terminal 4, and we were connecting from a Delta flight to Virgin Atlantic.
I thought the Jitney had bit the dust when Terminal 2 closed as there was no need to get passengers between terminals post-security. However, Delta still runs the buses to bring passengers back and forth in Terminal 4.
There are Jitney stops near gates B55, B15 and A9.
The Jitney’s primary use is to transport passengers to the far end of Terminal 4’s B gates.
In the comments section, someone asked about the Jitney’s operating hours. There are no set hours, but it appears to run as long as there are flights leaving from both terminals.

Do you know what time the Jitney from T2 to T4 stops running? I have a DL flight to LHR to catch. My flight to JFK is scheduled to arrive at 9:37 P.M.
I have not been able to find any specific information on the web. Any assistance would be appreciated.
I reached out to both the Delta and JFK Twitter accounts to try and find an answer. Delta doesn’t know. JFK’s Twitter says “We believe that the Jitney bus is in operation as long as Delta is expecting connecting flight operating between T2 and T4”. Now I did receive another response saying “It starts around 5am and ends around midnight”. Now, this wasn’t an official source but why would you reply if you didn’t at least think you knew the right answer.
So useful! This is why I love the internet! We have a 50min transfer from Delta Orlando flight to Virgin Heathrow flight, so was a tad nervous about the time…..especially dragging an 8 year old š . But this has eased my nerves…..thanks again for such great info!
Would it not be in both Delta and Virgins interests to provide their passengers with a detailed itinerary and map for connecting flights, to enable peace of mind. Travelling is stressful enough without having to worry about how to get from one connecting flight to another. This isn’t rocket science surely to God they know how to get from one plane to another after all THEY are selling the flights!
Just read your article which is really helpful BUT why did you go back to the A gates in Terminal 2 – or do you mean A gates Terminal 4 x
Thanks for catching that. Yes, that should have read A gates of Terminal 4. I’ve fixed the post.
I would prefer having a direct connection between the two terminals. I get anxious waiting on a Jitney bus to show up when I have to get from one terminal to the other.
I know this article is a few years old and in case somebody finds it like me, I want to get an update. I travel through JFK yesterday, landing in terminal two and leaving out of terminal four. Because of a delay of a flight attendant arriving for a previous flight, we were delayed getting in and I only had 29 minutes between touchdown and takeoff. When I landed my flight was already boarding. The jitney bus dropped everyone at the first stop down at B 18. I asked him if they were going to do the second stop down by B 50 and he said no – they are only doing the one stop now. My flight left out of B 47! It was insane!
CHERYL DETRICK did you make it?
