Another Option For Breastfeeding Mothers At The Airport

by joeheg

I’m aware that being a man means that there are travel-related problems that I can’t relate to. One of those is the problem for nursing mothers. Whether it’s women who are breastfeeding an infant or those who are pumping breast milk, an airport is not the most private area for those activities. Thankfully, the Friendly Airports for Mothers (FAM) Act and the Friendly Airports for Mothers (FAM) Improvement Act require all small, medium, and large hub airports to provide a private, non-bathroom space in each terminal building to express breast milk.

But finding a nursing room that’s clean and not occupied is difficult, and women can resort to finding a secluded corner of the airport or standing in a bathroom stall.

Airports have tried to help by adding Mamava pods, which nearly all have one of the most clever marketing inside jokes ever we’ve seen. However, the more options the better, and there’s another place where women can have a quiet place to breastfeed or pump away from the crowds.

Minute Suites

Frequent travelers are familiar with Minute Suites as they partner with Priority Pass to provide a quiet place to work or catch a nap during an airport connection.

However, Minute Suites also offers nursing mothers 30 minutes of free time.

Minute Suites saw this challenge that mothers encounter on a daily basis and wanted to provide a solution. Since we rent out private suites to airport travelers that need to relax or get work completed, we thought why not offer a room free of charge to women who are breastfeeding. At Minute Suites, mothers can reserve a 30-minute stay in one of our suites to nurse their child or pump at no cost. Our suites are cleaned after every guest and are engineered to be a quiet and restful place to retreat away from the airport terminals.

If you are flying with multiple children, the entire family is welcome to join you in the room as you nurse or pump. We want to make your trip as stress-free and relaxing as possible. Not only does this service help women traveling with their infants, it helps moms on trips without their children trying to keep up their milk supply while away.

Final Thought

It’s excellent that Minute Suites can provide this service to mothers, allowing them to breastfeed or pump in a private setting. Traveling with or without your child is stressful enough, and if this gives mothers one less thing to worry about, then I’m all for it.
