A lot of people who read our blog have flown business and/or first class…and usually more than once. It gets to the point where, much like visiting lounges, it’s not nearly as exciting once you’ve done it a few times.
A Memorable First Experience
Do you remember your first experience in international business class? I do mine. It was on Northwest Airlines, from Detroit to Japan, in April, 1994 (it’s been 30+ years; I don’t remember if the flight ended in Kyoto, Osaka or Tokyo). I was traveling with a friend whose brother-in-law had frequent flyer miles up the ying yang, so I bought some miles from him (shhh! Don’t tell, LOL! I know now that you’re not allowed to sell points, but I honestly didn’t know any better at that point).
Anyway, everything was SO different from (as they called it back then) coach. I don’t think I had a lie-flat seat but I was able to sit/lie much flatter than I would have in a typical coach seat. The food and service were amazing. It was SO much fun and I remember being SO impressed with the experience! (I’m glad I enjoyed it, because I didn’t get to fly business again until my husband and I went on our honeymoon in 2002).
A New Video Example: Moyo Ajibade’s Qsuite Reaction
Anyway, a video creator named Moyo Ajibade recently went on what he said was his very first plane ride in a Qatar Airways’ Qsuite, while on his way to Thailand for the new year. His reaction is pretty adorable:
Of course, Ajibade is a self-titled “digital creator,” so it wouldn’t be at all surprising that his reactions to everything could be a little over the top. But he also has some videos of his first business class experiences on other airlines, and he didn’t seem nearly as excited as he was over the Qsuite.
Comparing Reactions: Other Airlines’ Business Class
British Airlines:
American Airlines:
His excitement when he flew business class on Emirates (his first business class seat ever) miiiight compare, though:
Anyway, they were fun to watch, and they helped me remember my first business-class flight on Northwest, way back all those years ago.
So how about you? They say you never forget your first, so… How did you act on your first business or first class flight? What do you remember about it?

My first ever award flight was for my honeymoon, flying Envoy class on US Airways from PHL to FRA. At the time (2014) the seats were considered pretty cutting-edge. I like the way the seats represented the direction that business class seats were headed, but obviously a work in progress.
My first real F ride was on Lufthansa. WoW. What an experience. My inbound parked at a remote stand and I got picked up by a driver to be taken to the F lounge in Frankfurt. And it was just better and better from there. And then the flight back to the U.S. I didn’t want the plane to land!
