If you have an American Express card and don’t take advantage of AMEX Offers, you may be leaving hundreds of dollars a year on the table. AMEX Offers are targeted promotions on your American Express account. Once you register for an offer, AMEX gives you money back or extra points when you use your card at that merchant. Common examples are to get $10 back when you spend $50 or double Membership Rewards points for purchases for the next 3 months. Since many AMEX cards have an annual fee, taking advantage of these offers is a wonderful way to offset the card’s cost.
How to Enroll in AMEX Offers
If you have multiple accounts with AMEX, you need to check your account for each card because there may be different offers on each one. If you have multiple cards on the same account (i.e., spouse, children, parents), you can get AMEX Offers on those cards as well. However, even if you have the same card, you might not see the same offer on both cards.
For example, my wife has the AMEX Everyday card and I also have an authorized user card for the same account. If we both have the same offer, I can sign up for it on my card in addition to the same offer that showed up on her account. This occasionally allows us to take advantage of a great offer twice.
However, it’s important to remember that even if you see an offer on every one of your cards, each cardholder can only sign up for an offer with one card. Once you add the offer to a card, it will disappear from your other accounts.
More details about the AMEX offers program can be found at this link.
The easiest way to find out your offers is to log into your American Express account. Go ahead, log into your American Express account. Look on the bottom of your account page and you’ll see your AMEX Offers and Benefits (make sure to click on “Load More” to show all offers). You’ll usually have over 100 offers to look over. You can also enroll in AMEX Offers by using the AMEX mobile app and tapping the ‘Offers’ tab at the bottom of the screen.
It’s important to remember that you need to register for your offers BEFORE you use them. You can’t just shop somewhere and then add the offer.
Current Cable & Internet Offer Details
The “cable and internet” offer is one of my favorite AMEX Offers. It’s easy to use, and I get cash back on an expense I’d be paying anyway.
Here are the key details:
- Reward: Earn a $5 statement credit after using your eligible enrolled card to spend a minimum of $50 on one or more purchases to pay U.S. bill payments for cable and/or internet services made directly with an eligible provider.
- Expiration: Offer valid until 6/2/2025.
- Exclusions: Cellular wireless plans are not eligible.
For example, if your monthly cable or internet bill is $100, you could earn $5 back for every $50 spent, making it an excellent way to save on recurring expenses.
Why This Offer Is Worth It
This offer is incredibly valuable for households with recurring cable or internet expenses. By registering and using your AMEX card for these bills, you get free money for an expense you’d be paying anyway. It’s also a great way to maximize the value of your card benefits and offset any annual fees. Additionally, if you have multiple AMEX cards with the offer, you may be able to double up on the offer for even more savings.
Alternatives to AMEX Offers
While not many cards offer cable and internet as a bonus category, the Ink Cash card is an excellent alternative for business owners. This card earns 5 Ultimate Rewards points per dollar for cable and internet expenses. For those who prefer accumulating points (which can be redeemed for travel, statement credits, or more), this can be a great option. However, in this case, I’d prefer the AMEX offer, which provides 10% cashback, making it a better choice for those looking to save money on their recurring expenses.
Final Thoughts
Don’t miss out on this great opportunity. Log into your American Express account or app, check your AMEX Offers, and see if you’re targeted for the cable and internet offer. If not, many other offers might appeal to you. Remember that since AMEX knows what you spend money on, offers are targeted toward your spending pattern. In addition, don’t forget to register before you make any payments to qualify for the statement credits.
