Part of Donald Trump’s campaign was to bring big changes to the United States, and he promised that, if he won, he would do so ASAP. He had a laundry list of things he said he would do ‘on day one,’ and, as we saw on his inauguration day, he did do several of them. Granted, not all (he started walking some of them back right after he promised them. So much for grocery prices going down). And many of his changes will be in the courts for months to years because it’s questionable if they were even legal.
One thing that wasn’t on his list was to name an airport after himself. But some government officials in Tennessee are taking care of that for him. In fact, they even started getting the ball rolling before his inauguration earlier this week.
Tennessee’s Plans for Trump International Airport
On Friday, January 17th, Tennessee State Representative Todd Warner (R) filed a bill that would rename Nashville International Airport. It would instead be known as “Trump International Airport.”
If Tennessee House Bill 217 passes, it will direct the metropolitan airport authority to amend registered trademarks and revise all legal documents and contracts to reflect the name “Trump International Airport,” as well as update references with local, state and federal agencies. Of course, the airport would also need to “erect suitable signs or affix suitable markers designating the airport as the “Trump International Airport” and to take other appropriate actions to recognize [the] designation.
During the transition period, the bill states that the airport may operate business using its current name of Nashville International Airport, with the designation of “doing business as Trump International Airport” or “d/b/a Trump International Airport.”
The Tennessee General Assembly will review and vote on the bill in its upcoming legislative sessions. If the bill passes, the name change will officially take effect on January 1, 2026.
Potential Impact of the Name Change
Although Nashville is the largest airport in the state of Tennessee, it’s pretty small in relation to other airports in the country. There’s no word on whether or not Donald Trump would, in fact, prefer to have the country’s busiest airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), or the largest by size, Denver International Airport (DEN) be renamed in his honor. But if the bill passes, I suppose he’ll have to settle for his name being attached to the 28th busiest airport in the country.

Can’t we at least wait until he’s dead?
They didn’t for Reagan (I checked), so… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What a joke. This country is headed the Hell on a fast roller coaster from both parties. Both sides are in it all for themselves and not the people. The United Corporate States of America. Owned by all corporations not the people.
Who made those groceries prices become really high? At least give Trump 6 months to a year for something that Biden made expensive.
I’m ok with them renaming it but then need to add Felon in front of his name.
