Orlando Airport (MCO) Adds New Destination & Expands Capacity for Summer Travel

Orlando is becoming even easier to reach for budget-conscious travelers, with new and expanded flight options making trips to the Sunshine State more convenient. As travel demand surges, additional routes and increased flight frequency mean greater flexibility for those heading to and from Florida.

New Route to North Carolina

Starting June 6, Breeze Airways will launch flights between Orlando and Greensboro/Winston-Salem, North Carolina, offering twice-weekly service to Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO). With a growing population, a strong college presence, and business ties, the region is a prime addition to Breeze’s expanding network.

Increased Flights to Popular Destinations

Along with this new service, Breeze is ramping up flights on two existing Orlando routes. Beginning in June, flights to Portland, Maine, and Lancaster, Pennsylvania, will increase to four times per week for the summer. This expansion is well-timed, as summer brings peak travel demand, with families flocking to Orlando’s world-famous theme parks and Florida’s sunny attractions.

Ongoing Expansion at MCO

Breeze has been steadily growing its Orlando footprint. Earlier this year, the airline added flights to Gulfport, Mississippi, on February 6, followed by new service to Ogdensburg, New York, and Wilmington, North Carolina, on February 13. Additionally, Breeze will launch Orlando-Raleigh/Durham service on May 9, further enhancing connectivity between Florida and North Carolina.

Growing Demand in Lancaster, PA

Lancaster, PA (LNS), a recent Breeze addition, has seen promising passenger numbers since its first commercial flights began in October 2024. The airline initially offered flights between Lancaster and Orlando on Thursdays and Sundays, but with demand growing, Breeze will now offer Monday and Friday flights as well. U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics data shows that Lancaster flights have been gaining traction, with occupancy rates rising from 52% in October to 61% in November for Orlando-bound flights.

More Options, More Convenience

Breeze’s expansion aligns with seasonal travel trends, as Chief Commercial Officer Lukas Johnson noted in a recent interview. Orlando remains a top destination for summer travelers, particularly families making their annual pilgrimage to theme parks while schools are out.

With a mix of new routes and increased frequency, Breeze Airways is making budget travel even more accessible for flights to Orlando. Whether you’re heading north to visit family or flying south for a vacation, these added flights provide more convenient options at competitive prices. For many travelers, these expansions eliminate the need for long drives to larger airports, making air travel easier and more affordable than ever.
