50% Transfer Bonus From Chase Ultimate Rewards to Marriott Bonvoy – Worth It?

by joeheg

I’ve had a Chase Sapphire Preferred or Reserve card for over a decade, and I’ve always treated Ultimate Rewards points like gold. With all the transfer partners Chase offers, there’s no reason not to be picky.

Here’s the current list of Chase’s 1:1 travel transfer partners:

  • AerLingus AerClub (Avios)
  • Air Canada Aeroplan
  • British Airways Executive Club (Avios)
  • Flying Blue AIR FRANCE KLM
  • Emirates Skywards
  • JetBlue TrueBlue
  • Iberia Plus (Avios)
  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer
  • Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards®
  • United MileagePlus®
  • Virgin Atlantic Flying Club
  • IHG One Rewards
  • Marriott Bonvoy
  • World of Hyatt

Personally, I’ll transfer points to United, Hyatt, or Aeroplan without hesitation. I’ve even used points with JetBlue and Southwest, as their fixed-value redemptions can still yield more than 1 cent per point.

But Marriott? I’ve never seriously considered transferring Chase points there—at least not more than a few thousand to top off a redemption. I definitely never thought I’d send 90,000 Chase points for a two-night stay at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort.

And yet… here we are.

Why This Chase Transfer Bonus to Marriott Is Different

From now through August 15, 2025, Chase is offering a 50% transfer bonus to Marriott Bonvoy. That means 1,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points will be converted into 1,500 Marriott Bonvoy points.

The bonus is hard-coded into the Ultimate Rewards website, so you’ll see the full transfer amount before you confirm. While the terms say it could take up to 7 days for Marriott to post the bonus points, my transfer was nearly instant.

Why I Actually Did It

We had a last-minute opportunity to go to Aruba, and cash rates were sky high. The best option for us was a two-night stay at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort, which was priced out as follows, not including the resort fee, which we’d be forced to pay either way we booked:

  • Cash rate: $1,258
  • Points rate: 134,000 Marriott Bonvoy points

That’s a value of about 0.93 cents per Marriott point, which is actually quite good for Bonvoy.

With the 50% bonus, I only had to transfer 89,334 Chase points to get 134,000 Bonvoy points. That means each Chase point ended up being worth:

  • 1,000 Chase points = 1,500 Bonvoy points
  • 1,500 Bonvoy points × 0.93¢ = 1.4¢ per Chase point

That’s better than the 1.25 cents per point I’d get using Chase’s travel portal, and while it doesn’t match Hyatt-level value, it worked out perfectly for this trip.

When It’s Worth Considering

Let’s be clear: this doesn’t suddenly make Chase → Marriott transfers a good idea across the board. Marriott redemptions still tend to offer poor value, and Chase points are simply too valuable to throw away without a plan.

But if:

  • You already have a Marriott stay in mind,
  • The value is 0.9¢ per Marriott point or more, and
  • Chase is offering a transfer bonus,

…then it’s worth running the numbers. This specific situation yielded more than 1.4 cents per Chase point—better than the portal and in line with what I’d expect from a solid airline or Hyatt transfer.

Final Thought

I never thought I’d transfer 90,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Marriott Bonvoy. But the math worked, the transfer was instant, and it saved me from paying over $1,200 out of pocket. This isn’t a play I’d make often, but when everything lines up? Even Bonvoy can surprise you.
