Warning for Traveling Throughout the U.S., Europe & More, This Saturday

by SharonKurheg

Note: This post contains useful information about large-scale upcoming events that are based in politics. It’s meant as a way for our readers to plan their travels this Saturday and is not political commentary. We don’t care which side of the political fence you lean on, who you voted for, or what you think of any government entity. Politically charged comments to this (and any other) post, regardless of whether it’s left or right leaning, will not be approved.

Nationwide and Global Protests Planned

A large-scale mobilization throughout the U.S., several European countries, and select locations in Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America is scheduled for this Saturday.

No Kings Day was a National Day of Action this past June. There were over 2,100 demonstrations across the country, and the final number of participants was estimated to be between 4 and 6 million. It was said to be one of the largest days of protest in U.S. history.

And it’s happening again

What’s Happening This Saturday

The grassroots 50501 Movement is partnering with roughly 250 organizations – religious groups, veteran groups, political groups, unions and social advocacy groups, among others – to demonstrate against the actions of current U.S. government leaders.

“From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism—and show the world what democracy really looks like,” organizers say on the “No Kings” website. “On October 18, millions of us are rising again to show the world: America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people.”

Right now, there are over 2,110 rallies scheduled. This interactive map shows where they’re scheduled to take place.

Plan Your Travel Accordingly

Again, we don’t care how you feel about the current state of the United States. However, we do want our readers to know that, as of this writing, No Kings Day will affect several cities (in some cases, dozens upon dozens of them) in every state in the country, as well as more than a half dozen countries outside the U.S. So plan your travel — by car or on foot—carefully.
