When you’re on a plane and waiting to take off, the reasoning the flight crew gives for any delay is typically pretty vague.
Weather. Something mechanical. Something happening at the airport. “Lots of planes wanting to take off at the same time.”
But they never go into very much detail.
And I get this. I mean, the more passengers know, the less of the nitty gritty they may understand. That leads to more questions, unanswered questions leads to frustration, frustration leads to anger, and yadda yadda yadda.
Not this pilot, though
All that being said, there’s apparently a pilot out there who doesn’t believe in keeping things short and sweet – he’d rather spill the tea and tell his passengers EXACTLY what’s happened, as it’s happening. And a TikTokker who goes by the handle @i.forgot.my.password444 got a bunch of it on video.
“when you’re plane is delayed on the tarmac but your pilot is a sassy legend who kept us informed on the tea the whole time” she wrote.
We don’t know the details of the delay – @i.forgot.my.password444 just said:
Best pilot ever he made the wait worth it šYou can take a plane out of NY but NY will always follow you this pilot is 100% from one of the 5 burrows [sic]
The video starts with the pilot in mid-explanation:
“She said that they are fully boarded up and that they’re just loading the last bags. And she said that it should be another 10 minutes. And then I responded, ‘Well, that was 10 minutes ago.’ And she says, ‘Well, oh, they only have six people working.'”
The video then jumps to the pilot explaining how passengers can make situations like this better:
“The only way, if you guys travel here a lot, the only way for them to change things is for you guys to complain. Because coming from me, it doesn’t matter…but you didn’t hear that from me.”
Another jump and the pilot sounds as frustrated as the passengers:
“I honestly can’t say how much longer this is gonna be. You have no idea how much I want to get to the hotel room. So believe me, I’m trying to do everything I can. I did ask air traffic control if this is common here, and he goes, ‘Well, it’s not uncommon.’ So take it as you will. Should be moving in another, ugh, five minutes…I hope”
Anyway, here’s the video:
