Reminder: Your Amex Platinum Uber Cash Jumps to $35 in December

by joeheg

The American Express Platinum Card comes with a long list of credits, and most of them work the same way: you pay with the card, then a statement credit shows up a few days later.

The Uber/Uber Eats credit is different. It’s not a statement credit at all — it shows up as Uber Cash inside your Uber account.

The Uber / Uber Eats Credit Process

Each month, Platinum Card Members receive $15 in Uber Cash that’s automatically added to their Uber account (once the card is added in the Uber app).

You can use that Uber Cash on Uber rides or Uber Eats orders in the U.S. But it’s “use it or lose it” — if you don’t use it by the end of the month, it expires and doesn’t roll over. (Officially, it expires at 11:59 PM Hawaii Standard Time on the last day of the month.)

Important: To use the Uber Cash from this benefit, your eligible Amex Card needs to be added to your Uber account, and an Amex Card must be selected as the payment method for the transaction.

Bonus December Uber Cash

In addition to the regular $15 monthly Uber Cash, Platinum Card Members also receive a $20 bonus in December. That means you’ll see $35 total added for the month of December.

Reminder to Use Your Uber Cash

I only occasionally use Uber for rides, so I’ve learned it helps to have a simple “default” Uber Eats order in mind that lands just above the monthly credit amount, so it doesn’t go to waste.

And when December rolls around, I treat it as a quick reminder to either add an extra order that month or use the credit on a bigger purchase — because once the calendar flips, that bonus Uber Cash is gone.

Final Thought

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this benefit—do you take full advantage of your monthly Uber Cash? How do you typically use it: for rides, meals, or both? Share your experience or ask any questions in the comments below.
