Singapore Airlines A380 First-Class Video Sparks Online Backlash

A luxury cabin tour drew millions of views — but the comments section had other plans.

If you’re a travel nerd, chances are you enjoy seeing photos, reading posts, and watching videos about others’ experiences on planes. Those who share adventures in business or first class are particularly fun to watch, because you get to see amenities you might not have gotten to experience yet, or it helps you relive when you flew the same class on the same type of aircraft.

Not the same as first class, but it didn’t suck, either 😉

Frankly, these sorts of things have been happening for years (and I daresay decades. I remember writing about our business class flights to/from Japan in 2005 on my personal blog. And when my husband went on the Disney Cruise in 1998? That was ALLLLL over whatever message forums he was on at the time LOL!). You’d get your occasional trolls, but that’s about it; the bottom line was you got to share information with a bunch of like-minded people.

Times have changed

This is 2026, though, and not everyone posts their experiences on forums where only those who are interested will see them. There are also a bunch more trolls out there nowadays, ready to emerge from their proverbial basements at a moment’s notice. This is what happened to an influencer who goes by the handle pitor.official.

Pitor is originally from Cambodia and describes himself as coming from ‘humble beginnings’ but has apparently done well for himself since then, at least in terms of traveling. He’s visited 100+ countries and has been sharing videos of his travels on Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, YouTube, TikTok, etc.

The video in question

It was a TikTok video, though, that caused Pitor’s problems.

A while back, Pitor decided to share a long (well, for TikTok, 3 minutes) video of his experience traveling in first class on a Singapore Airlines A380.

He starts at the very beginning (a very good place to start), where you can see him arriving at the entrance to the huge aircraft.

He was immediately greeted by a Singapore Airlines flight attendant who showed him to his seat. Of course, the seat is more like a cubicle than an actual seat. It had a recliner, a personal video screen, a desk with a vanity area, and leg room for miles.

Pitor showed how he was offered access to the plane’s lounge, seemingly unlimited champagne (Charles Krug, of course) and other types of alcohol (within reason, of course), and a menu that you’d never, ever see in the likes of economy seating.a collage of a man holding a book and a bottle of champagne

After takeoff,  Pitor showed the meal he picked. We’re talking salad, followed by chicken skewers on a bed of lettuce and a bread side, served, of course, on a white tablecloth, with real silverware.

Of course, when Pitor’s meal was over, his video showed how his dedicated flight attendant made his lie-flat bed.

He captioned the video: “Experiencing luxury at 30,000 feet! First-class on @SingaporeAir’s A380 is a dream come true.”

Here’s the video:

Never read the comments

Here’s where the trouble started.

Along with nearly 70 million views (to date), there are just shy of 40,000 comments. And the way that TikTok works, its algorithm curates what videos a person sees next. So, although some of the viewers might be people who are genuinely interested in Singapore Airlines or first-class travel, others will be those who seem to be more attuned to chicken kabobs. Or beds. Or champagne…even Korbel champagne.

Four kinds of reactions

Some comments were the kind you’d expect from aviation geeks:

  • I’ve flown Singapore Airlines several times. Worth every penny — pesci1162
  • Singapore airlines is literally the best I’ve ever flown. Business class was amazing — Mark
  • Singapore Airlines 1st class is a literally office in the sky that has a actually pull-down bed. Costs an arm & a leg but amazing. 💙💙— deniselovee12

And some who seemed genuinely happy to just watch it:

  • Thank you for letting me experience this — Kiki
  • Thank you for bringing us with you. 😅
At least I was able to see what’s inside a luxurious space on the plane 😅— Prince
  • It’s really nice to see other people doing so well ❤️— firstlady

There were plenty of comments from people who had never sat in first class, but could at least joke about it:

  • Seeing this whilst being on my Ryanair flight 😅— Kelly Vassallo
  • The size of the lavatory you think they could at least spring for one that size for the cattle car class — sharongaines626
  • One time I accidentally sat in a seat that had extra leg room. The exact feeling of sitting in first class. I think — jennifergomez4722

And then there were those who let their envy (and/or sour grapes…or complete misunderstanding) run wild:

  • I never understand the concept of paying thousands of pounds.. to sleep..close my eyes and wake up without feeling the journey. all that for 10k ? — joeinmcr
  • Looks great, but if plane goes down also those from this super luxury go too right or?? — Vase
  • What a waste of money. There are children starving and you spent how much on this??? Selfish. — jomama
  • Do the people in 1st class also experience clear air turbulence like the rest of us in steerage? — FM

Like the old saying goes

I guess some people can’t stand to see others’ success.

But it’s like the old saying goes: If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.
