Buc-ee’s Is Expanding Again: 7 New States Where the Cult Road Stop Is Opening

by SharonKurheg

The beloved Texas-born mega gas station chain is continuing its nationwide expansion, with new Buc-ee’s locations planned in seven additional states.

The Buc-ee’s road stop chain has something of a cult following—and I fully admit that I’m part of that cult. LOL.

Part gas station, part convenience store, part bakery, part carry-out restaurant, part car wash, and home to famously spotless restrooms, Buc-ee’s has built a fiercely loyal fan base over more than 40 years.

One friend of ours summed up their first Buc-ee’s visit perfectly on social media a few years ago:

“I stopped at Buc-ee’s. It’s a pornographic fever dream where Wawa and a ‘Live, Laugh, Pray’ kitchen plaque had a four-way with a Sam’s Club and a Cracker Barrel. My tub of soda was .49 cents and I ate the hell outta that brisket tho.”

Honestly…not inaccurate.

First Texas, then expansion

The chain originated in Texas in 1982, and remained exclusively within the state for decades. But about seven years ago, Buc-ee’s began expanding beyond the Lone Star State.

Today you can find locations in:

  • Alabama – Athens, Auburn, Leeds, Loxley, Robertsdale
  • Colorado – Johnstown
  • Florida – Daytona Beach, St. Augustine
  • Georgia – Brunswick, Calhoun, Warner Robins
  • Kentucky – Richmond, Smiths Grove
  • Mississippi – Harrison County
  • Missouri – Springfield
  • South Carolina – Florence
  • Tennessee – Crossville, Sevierville
  • Texas – Too many to list 😉
  • Virginia – Rockingham County

Buc-ee’s typically follows a very specific formula when choosing locations. The stores are often built on relatively inexpensive land along major interstate highways between two sizable cities—routes like I-10, I-35, and I-95.

Buc-ee’s locations coming to 7 new states

The company isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Ground has already been broken—or solid plans are underway—for Buc-ee’s locations in seven additional states.

Arizona

Goodyear
According to KTAR, the location at the southeast corner of Bullard Avenue and Interstate 10 is scheduled to open June 2026.

Arkansas

Benton
THV11 reports ground was broken near Interstate 30 in April 2025, with an expected opening of September 2026.

Kansas

Kansas City
The Buc-ee’s director of real estate told KSHB the project is still in early stages but progressing. Construction began in October 2025 and road closures for the project started in January 2026, with an estimated opening sometime in 2027.

Louisiana

Ruston
Groundbreaking took place in October 2025 near Interstate 20, with an anticipated opening around April 2027.

Nebraska

Gretna
Planned for the Nebraska Crossing “Good Life District” near I-80 and Highway 31, this project is still in early planning.

North Carolina

Mebane
According to The News & Observer, the store is currently expected to open in 2027.

Ohio

Huber Heights
WBNS reports the location is scheduled to open April 6, 2026, with a preview for first responders on April 3.

Other Buc-ee’s locations under construction/discussion

Several additional Buc-ee’s locations are either currently under construction or in active planning stages:

  • Florida — Ocala
  • Tennessee — Gallaway, Murfreesboro
  • Texas — San Marcos
  • Wisconsin — Oak Creek

Our take on it

With Buc-ee’s continuing to expand far beyond Texas, it’s increasingly likely the giant roadside stop will eventually show up near even more highways across the country.

And as The Monkees once said…

They “…may be comin’ to your town.”
