Well, this is certainly NOT want you want to find while visiting a world famous Las Vegas hotel.
We’ve posted a couple of articles about hidden cameras in Airbnbs:
We’ve never covered the topic of people being able to see your hotel room because, frankly, it doesn’t happen as often.
Unfortunately, it’s not as if it doesn’t happen AT ALL. Read on…
A TikToker known as “erinvabney” was visiting Las Vegas. She was staying at a luxury resort and, after she checked in, noticed something was wonky about the door to her hotel room.
You could look through the peephole and see into her room.
“What it’s like traveling as a woman,” Erin captioned in what became her viral video. “What it’s like traveling as a woman. Always check your peepholes. Mine was installed backwards so anyone could see into my hotel room. It’s very common for peepholes to be tampered.”
Take a look:

Comments ran the gamut:
- The front desk would be getting a call real quick and that stay would’ve been comped. – Ridinroundthatnico
- I always take the luggage stickers off and put it over the peep hole. I also go check all the rooms, closets, windows. – Cecelia.Thomas
- So I’ll be covering these with post it’s from now on. Thanks – Q’vo
- omg I check beds and mirrors this is a new one for me – Desiree Montenegro
- Those can be easily tampered with and turned around, I always put a post it note from their little table over it like a lap top camera- Lei
A few people who left replies asked the name of the hotel – she said it was the Bellagio. At 0:04 through 0:07 of the video, you can see the carpet of the hotel’s hallway…it exactly matches the carpet at the Bellagio after they did their latest refurb last year (7th photo down). So…yeah.
So what happened? Who knows? Especially if they’re that easy to be tampered with.
Granted, even if someone who worked there deliberately switched the peep hole so it was backwards, anyone LOOKING IN to the room would look pretty suspicious. And if someone who had the room previously switched it out as a prank, well, that’s just sick.
Of course, it’s not just a woman thing – I can’t think of any guys who would want someone to be able to see into their hotel room, either.
Many people mentioned covering the hole over, stuffing it with toilet paper, etc. Goes right up there with covering the camera of your laptop, I guess.
Be careful out there, travel friends.
