Joe and I love Silvercar. We’ve rented with them whenever we’re able, not just because they have really cool cars, but because they make renting from them SO darn easy. So when Silvercar announced they were expending into Orlando, we were thrilled, not so much for ourselves (I mean, we live here, y’know?), but for all our friends and family who come to Orlando for vacation or on business, who would soon be able to rent a Silvercar while they were in town. And as of this past Monday, they’re open for business here in Orlando!
Silvercar could already be found at a dozen or so airports in cities all across the US. Their expansion into the Orlando market will help travelers here who are looking for car rental “the way it should be.”
The process to reserve and get a Silvercar is really simple:
- Download the app
- Reserve your car
- Use the app to unlock your Silvercar
We love all the extras they automatically include in the price of the rental, with no upcharge for things like GPS, bluetooth, SiriusXM radio, toll transponder or onboard wifi. They provide free car seats if you let them know what you need and they don’t charge extra if you’re under 25. Silvercar has a fair fuel plan, where you have a choice of filling the car up on your own, or if you want to skip the hassle of refueling, they’ll fill up your tank for the market price plus a $5 refueling fee (that way you also don’t have to pay the inflated prices at the gas stations right by the airport – there are a few in Orlando that charge over $3/gallon more than whatever the going rate is everywhere else!). Oh, and ALL of their rental cars are late-model Audi A4s. Nice, huh?
The brand-spanking new Silvercar location is about 2.5 miles north of Orlando International Airport, but no worries about them not being on site…they’ll pick you up lickety split. As per their website, when you arrive at the MCO, grab your bags and press the “Pick Me Up” button on your app to let them know you’ve arrived. Then, for both Side A and Side B terminals, make your way to Level 1, following signs for ground transportation. Exit the terminal and walk to Commercial Lane parking spaces A11-13 for Side A or B11-13 for Side B. Be on the lookout for a shiny silver Audi A4 (not a shuttle bus!). They’ll pick you up curbside and take you to the Silvercar location to get you on the road in just a couple of minutes (If you’re a local renter, you can pick up your Silvercar directly from their location at 5600 Butler National Drive, Orlando, FL 32812).
As per their app (available on iOS and Android), Silvercar is $49 per day in Orlando (we rented cars here in Orlando plenty of times before we moved to here – this really is a decent deal, considering everything you get). If you decide to rent from Silvercar (and you really should consider it – we love them!) and are new to them, once you make an account, use can use our promo code, JHEGEDUS, and you’ll get $25 off your first rental (we’ll get $25 off our next rental, as well).
AND THAT’S NOT ALL! IT’S SILVERCAR SWEEPSTAKES TIME!
Silvercar is currently running what they call their ULTIMATE GETAWAY SWEEPSTAKES, where one lucky person will win, “airfare for 2, swanky accommodations and a $1,000 AMEX gift card. A travel advisor will help you choose the perfect destination and get you set up for the trip of a lifetime.” No purchase necessary and the sweepstakes is only open to legal residents of the continental United States and the District of Columbia (excluding Alaska, Hawaii and Rhode Island – what’s up with you, Rhode Island?) who are 18+. Sweepstakes ends this Monday, September 4th, 2017 and they’ll announce the winner the week of September 25th. Check out this page of Silvercar’s website for your chance to enter, as well as a link to all the official rules.
Happy driving!
