As I mentioned in a post a while back, Buc-ee’s is a chain of roadside gas and convenience stores located in Texas (soon to be expanding into Florida!) and I just LOVE them! So during our pretty-much-almost-annual visit to New Braunfels to go to Schlitterbahn Water Park & Resort nearly every summer, I make sure we visit Buc-ee’s at least twice (occasionally more).
I really don’t know why I love Buc-ee’s so much. It could be as simple as the fact that it rhymes with Stuckey’s (another chain of roadside convenience stores, one that has been around since the 1930s), of which I have vague, pleasant memories of visiting during family road trips when I was very, very young (Stuckey’s logo also has a lot of red and yellow in it). Perhaps it’s because I associate Buc-ee’s with going to Schlitterbahn, which are fun getaways for Joe and I.
Maybe it’s because they seem to have EVERYTHING…
120 fueling positions to get gasoline!
Over 2 dozen flavors of fudge! (with free samples!)
Stuff for “toobing” on the Comal and Guadalupe Rivers!
A bajillion different kinds of candies, chips and snacks!
Toys!
Beaver Nuggets! (OMG, Beaver Nuggets! They’re like the crack cocaine of Buc-ee’s! They’re SOOOOO good!!!)
Hunting and camping stuff!
Cheap ice!
Dozens of different kinds of jerky, both fresh and pre-packed! And they do free samples of the fresh stuff!
Texas/country stuff!
Custom sandwiches, tacos, wraps, chicken. hot dogs. burritos, etc.!
Dozens of different kinds of fountain and bottled/canned soda! (they have 80 fountain dispensers!)
Mexican Coca-Cola!
And lots and lots and lots of stuff with Buc-ee the Beaver on it!
Tee shirts!
Plus home goods!
Kid stuff!
Dog stuff!
Chachkes and small stuff!
Buc-ee stuffed animals!
And did I mention they have some of the cleanest bathrooms in the whole, entire world?
So yeah…this was our trip to Buc-ee’s this year (Edit from Joe: “our” trip? Just one? Singular? Tell them the truth. You made us go 3 times in 5 days). Wandering around, buying a bunch of Buc-ee’s logoed stuff (I am not obsessed), and taking pictures (I SAID I am NOT obsessed. It was for the blog! Yeah, that’s it!). Isn’t that what everybody does on vacation?
(Edit from Joe: Again. We went THREE times in FIVE days. That’s not normal. She is obsessed.)
(Edit from Sharon: I am not obsessed! One of those times was just to take pictures!)
(Edit from Joe: Yes, you are. You bought five Buc-ees shirts this trip. FIVE!)
(Edit from Sharon: No, I’m not obsessed!)
(Edit from Joe: You are, too)
(Edit from Sharon: Not!)
(Edit from Joe: Too!)
(Edit from Sharon: I am no….well, maybe a little)
(Edit from Joe: A LITTLE?)
(Edit from Sharon: Shup)

I highly recommend the BBQ sandwiches too. I live in Oklahoma, we stopped at the Temple store grabbed breakfast and lunch which was just as good later down the road, not to mention the jumbo soda I bought that kept me fueled for the trip. I love Buc-eeโs,,hee hee
