Wild Bull Gored Tourist on Mexican Beach After She Tried to Feed It

by SharonKurheg

It doesn’t matter what country you’re in; unless there are signs that say it’s OK to feed the local flora and fauna (like the deer in Japan’s Nara Park), DON’T.

There’s also an old saying, “Don’t mess with the bull or you’ll get the horns.”

A female tourist in Los Cabos, Mexico found out both of those things, all at the same time. And unfortunately for her, she discovered them the hard way, when she decided to feed a wild bull that had wandered onto the beach.

BCSnoticas posted video on Twitter (currently known as X) of the bull as it was being harassed by some wild dogs on the beach of La Fortuna in Baja California Sur’s East Cape region.

Translation of caption: A quiet day in #BajaCaliforniaSur was interrupted by a bull, which was chased by dogs and almost attacked a couple of bathers; this on La Fortuna beach.

Not long afterwards, the bull attacked a female tourist on the beach.

According to multiple reports out of Los Cabos and video footage that has been shared since, the woman was originally face to face with the bull, which walked under her beach tent. Instead of running away, she decided to feed the wild animal from a bowl with one hand, which she tried to gather her belongings with the other. It didn’t go well.

The woman, who was wearing a tan hat an a black coverup, alternately trying to obtain her items and the bull, well, did what bulls do when they’re upset.

The video includes a man saying, in English, “Lady, you are really playing with it right now. Please don’t do that. PLEASE!”

Either not hearing what the man said, or simply ignoring him, the woman pushed the bull’s head away from her bag so she could get it back.

The man says, “PLEASE get away!” Another man can be heard calling her a “F**king moron.”

The first man, seeing the woman still trying to retrieve her bag, says, “Jesus, get out of the way!”

That’s when the bull begins to attack the woman.

He tried to get her with his horns; she, in turn, tried to run away but lost her balance and dropped to her knees.

The bull attacked with his horns again. And again. And again.

By this point there are more onlookers, and more sounds of fear and anguish every time the bull hit the woman with his horns.

“We tried to f**king tell you!,” the first man says.

Taking a break for a moment, and with the woman lying on the sand in the fetal position, onlookers yelled, “Don’t move!” For once, she listened.

Some onlookers finally distracted the bull by throwing a bucket of water at it, at which point he finally left the woman alone.

Here’s the video of the incident. Heads up that it’s NSFW in terms of adult language. Although no blood is seen, the bull still did try to gore the woman several times; it’s not pretty.

What was the bull doing on the beach?

Just being a bull.

According to local publication El Sudcaliforniano, there are villages and ranchers very close to that beach so it’s common to find wild stock – mostly donkeys, but occasionally bulls (gee, ya think?) belonging to the locals on both the local roads and the beach.

Was the woman OK?

Unfortunately, we don’t know.

Víctor Manuel Torres García, Los Cabos Federal Maritime-Terrestrial Zone operational coordinator told the newspaper that employees generally don’t regularly patrol the beach where the attack happened, so no report was made. He said the identity and condition of the woman gored by the bull was unknown.

She wasn’t the only one

Other video footage shows a bull charging at a group of 5 people on the same beach, reportedly a few days later. One man in the group got too close to the bull, who proceeded to knock him over with his horns.
