Hate Standing On Long Lines In NYC? Hire A Professional Line Sitter!

by SharonKurheg

If you’re vacationing or traveling on business in New York, or heck, even if you live there, you know your time is limited – you’ve got things to do and places to go and people to see! But if you want SRO tickets for School of Rock or to be the first person on your block with the latest iPhone or Air Jordans, or maybe your driver’s license is expiring and you have to get a new one at the DMV, it requires standing on line, sometimes for hours. You can, of course, use your own time to stand there, sometimes in the hottest, coldest or rainiest or snowiest of weather, but what if there was someone you could pay to stand on line for you while you got other things done? Well, you can! Same Old Line Dudes, LLC (SOLD) is a team of professional line sitters and they’re ready and able to stand on line on your behalf so you can get other things done. Here’s how it works:

In a nutshell, you pay SOLD to stand on line for you. They charge $25 for the first hour and $10 for each additional 30 minutes, with a minimum 2 hours required. So if you hire SOLD to stand on line for 4 hours to get you 2 SRO tickets for The Book of Mormon, your final price would be $85 (plus the cost of the tickets, of course). Don’t want to stand on line at TKTS for an hour and a half? SOLD will do it for you for $45 (remember, they charge for a minimum of 2 hours) and let you take the spot they’ve held for you when they’re towards the front of the line.

They also have special pricing to get and deliver Dominique Ansel Bakery Cronuts (they only make about 350 Cronuts a day, they’re popular and they go fast, so people get in line EARLY), food from Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer, etc. They’ll even go to the restaurant of your choice to put your name and number on the wait list, and then notify you of the wait so you can get there when your name is ready to be called. And if you want them to try to get a pair of Hamilton tickets for you? They have a special deal for that, too.

They do charge extra for inclement weather and same day/rush requests, and they charge an extra fee for deliveries outside of Manhattan. But even with all of that, if your time is limited or just worth more to you than standing on line for hours, it sounds like an awesome way to get things done.

SOLD has a 5-star rating on Yelp, and has had press in The New York Times, CNN, BBC World Service, People Magazine, NPR and Daily Mail, to name a few.
