Hi friends! Happy Easter, happy 2nd day of Passover, happy April Fools’ Day and happy Sunday! Most of the travel blogosphere this week seemed to be obsessed with getting the IHG card before it went away (I did), and the American Express Mercedes Benz Platinum card before it went away (I didn’t). Going through a bunch of gift card offers and reviews of flights to places I’ll never go or hotels I’ll never stay at, here are the rest of the best for the week:
- If you have TSA Pre-Check (and if you don’t, why not? Click here to find out why you should!), here’s a great reminder to make sure your Known Traveler Number (KTN) is listed on your flight reservations. It’s the best way to make sure you’ll get to go through the Pre-Check lanes. I had to do this when I booked our first flights on Frontier.
- Lucky wrote on One Mile at a Time about how it’s getting hard to justify NOT flying with Spirit. He said it just didn’t make sense not to book his dad on a flight on Spirit. I’d argue that it’s not that Spirit is any better than before but the other major airlines are racing down to meet them. I’m imagining a US airline market like where BA is racing to keep up with RyanAir. Thank goodness for Southwest, JetBlue and Alaska.
- Walt Disney World Resort is showing beautiful displays of Easter eggs and bunny-themed cupcakes throughout the resort through various dates in early April.
- Best Western hotels just don’t get much love. However you can find some of their hotels are just where you want to be and for reasonable rates. Loyalty Traveler wrote about 44 of their hotels that are close to 30 U.S. National Parks.
The rest of the articles this week are about United. It’s not on purpose; they’re just the travel blogger gift that keeps on giving. I just wrote about how we’re going to give up on the airline. I can’t support a company who has lost all direction.
- Once again, Lucky from One Mile at a Time echoed the theme of my article and wrote about the disappointing tenure of United CEO Oscar Muñoz .
- Ed from Pizza in Motion wrote about how United is continuing to make cuts to its never fully launches Polaris service, surprising no one who is paying attention.
- Finally, a guest article wrote about if the United MileagePlus Explorer card was worth keeping. I’ve already decided the fate of this card for us, since we’re ditching United, but this writer who is from a United captive city, has their own viewpoint.
