I want to start this week by remembering the tragic death of Anthony Bourdain. Many travel writers have written about how he was an inspiration to them to get out into the world and share what a wonderful place it is. Of all the articles I read, I was particularly moved by this post from Mommy Points. I encourage you to read it, as it sums up so many feelings people have nowadays.
Getting back to the travel posts….
- Southwest doesn’t charge when you make changes to your flights. That means you can get a refund if your flight goes down in price. Deals We Like writes about how an update to Southwest’s website makes checking if your airfare has gone down in price much easier.
- I’ve been in Ubers where the driver has sucking candy, bottles of water and tissues available but Andrew from One Mile At A Time writes about how he was met by a Hello Kitty Uber.
- I wrote a while ago about the merger between Wyndham and LaQuinta. The sale closed this week and LoyaltyLobby writes about how you are now able to transfer points between the two programs.
- The rumor mill has gone into overdrive when it comes to the topic of replacing Illuminations, the nighttime music & fireworks show at Epcot. Tom at Disney Blog Tourist writes about everything we know so far in regards to the possibility of a new nighttime show at Epcot.
- Don’t call it a fuel surcharge when it’s not! British Airways learned this lesson in court and now has to pay out for all of those fees they collected that had nothing to do with fuel costs. Mile Value has a great article about the settlement and what to do it you’re eligible for a part of the money.
- Gary from View From The Wing writes about how Lowes Hotels is doing away with its loyalty program at the end of the year. I never paid attention to it, as two of the only Lowes Hotels I would care about at Universal Orlando were excluded from benefits of the program.
- I almost fainted when I saw that Lucky from One Mile at a Time flew on EasyJet this week. Since he almost always flies in business or first class, I was interested to read his review of one of the leading low cost carriers in Europe.
