Happy Sunday (and happy New Year!) to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- Before you try to check that Darth Vader figure your purchased while on vacation, Sebastian from Loyalty Lobby warns that airlines may want you to pay extra for “bulky baggage” or just pay for a seat on the plane.

- Nick from Frequent Miler shared his top ten deals from 2018. I got in on the deal for the Bose headphones (and love them!!!) but missed out on the number one deal of the year (but that’s OK).
- Walt Disney Imagineering’s Society of Explorers and Adventurers ties together the backstories of multiple theme park attractions and restaurants at Disney theme parks worldwide. From Harrison Hightower III (Tower of Terror at Tokyo DisneySea to Merriweather Adam Pleasure (the now-defunct Pleasure Island at WDW), there have been lots of fictional characters that carry the story along. Robert at Theme Park Insider wrote the list of all the major players, to help keep them straight in our heads.
- Holly from Frugal Travel Guy wrote about how she’s warming back up to Delta’s SkyMiles program. I get why people hate on Delta so much but they’ve been there when I needed them more than once and I’m not going to avoid them just because they don’t publish a point list for award travel.
- James from One Mile At A Time wrote about a particular bit of advice he was given when renting a car while in Turks and Caicos. I’m not sure I would follow it but I can see how it actually makes sense.
- Two different posts this week were from bloggers who had their points stolen right from their accounts. Mommy Points from The Points Guy website shared how her mother (Grandma Points) had all of her Chase Ultimate Rewards drained from several different cards and Andy from Andy’s Travel Blog provided the resolution from his story of having American AAdvantage points drained from his account while he and a representative from the airline watched it happen in real time.
- Experiencing a theme park when you’re on the autism spectrum can have its challenges. Six Flags Great Adventure, in Jackson NJ, held it inaugural Autism Day at Six Flags Great Adventure in 2018 and over 5,000 people were given a day of worry-free, sensory-friendly fun. They’ve just announced the event will return, on May 8, 2019. Check out Custom Education Foundation’s page for more info.
- Gary from View From the Wing wrote the best lead for an article ever and I think I’m going to start all of my articles by telling my readers that they won’t read it :-). “This will be one of my least-read posts, but it’s an important one for folks interested in loyalty marketing” If you’re wondering, it has to do with the Marriott hack and what information may have been revealed about your travel habits.
- I’m a sucker for a good rant and Jon from No Mas Coach has one about a fellow passenger who didn’t seem to understand who was eligible for Priority Boarding.
