Happy Wednesday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- Matthew at Live And Let’s Fly posted a heartwarming story about a flight attendant who went above and beyond to be able to communicate with some of her passengers, by learning American Sign Language (ASL). My aunt and uncle were both Deaf so I’m sure you can understand why I particularly loved this story!
- Lots of people love Las Vegas but don’t love the resort fees that seem to be everywhere. Apparently people have made their thoughts known by NOT visiting Vegas more recently. Las Vegas’ response? A cut on resort fees.
- Michael from Inside the Magic has written about a new service from Boxney where you can enjoy authentic WDW snacks delivered right to your doorstep. Mmmm…..Chocolatears! 😉
- The tragedies that occurred because of the Boeing 737 MAX planes are just incomprehensible and the stories and situations that have happened since are just as crazy. Mark from Miles to Memories has posted a nice collection of articles about the entire situation.
- We wrote a while back about the crazy ways that airlines have decreased weight on planes, to help reduce fuel costs. Ben (Lucky) from One Mile At A Time wrote about one airline that’s doing that, albeit for a somewhat different reason, by limiting how heavy passengers’ luggage can be.
- Ashley from Theme Park Tourist gives an in-depth report on three ways Universal Studios’ Wizard World of Harry Potter may have influenced Disney’s upcoming Star Wars-themed Galaxy’s Edge. I can’t say that I disagree and I can’t say I’m surprised. But I can say that I suspect the new Star Wars lands will be amazing.
- Anna from Frequent Business Traveler posted about a tourist who died from a fall while taking a selfie at the Grand Canyon. Makes some of the ideas in this post sound better and better, huh?
And finally, we want to give a shout out to some of the more inventive posts we saw on Monday. Some are from “the big boys” of travel but others not so much:
- Texas-based Schlitterbahn Water Parks introduced a new app that will make one water park frustration a thing of the past.
- A new service that’s started so you don’t have to carry all your stuff all around Walt Disney World.
- Travelodge introduced Bedshare – an even lower low cost option to their low cost hotels.
- The announcement of the new way two countries will be connected. WHEEEEE!
- PassengerShaming announced (via Instagram) the new national law set by all U.S. air carriers regarding something really gross.
- Party-friendly tour company, which caters to young adults, announced a new concept that might make their customers’ parents a little more comfortable.
- Going to the U.K.? The British Transport police announced a new rule regarding what will happen if you eat stinky snacks on the go.
- Also from the U.K. – on the heels of our post about money expiring, the U.K.-based The Sun reported on the next change in coinage from the Royal Mint.
