Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- Dave from MilesTalk was looking for a flight from the U.S. to London using Delta SkyMiles. Turns out the starting price for a one way trip on a Virgin Atlantic Upper Class flight was pricing at 135,000 SkyMiles. If he looked at a Delta flight in Delta One the price jumped to 270,000 SkyMiles. His article goes through the increase in Delta’s pricing for partners and options available if you want to book a Delta flight using miles. BTW, 270,000 is the same price I found from Delta when I was looking for a flight home from Frankfurt.
- Mark from Miles to Memories writes about the email Chase sent to many of their cardmembers this week. If you didn’t bother to read it, unless you WRITE THEM A LETTER, you will no longer be able to sue them and will have to go through arbitration. This will also forbid you from taking part in any class action lawsuit. The question still lingers that if you opt-out of arbitration, will Chase close your accounts?????
- I found a post from Cheryl Howard that was just the type of weird I appreciate. Turns out there is a statue of the TV detective Colombo (played by the late Peter Falk) on the streets of Budapest, Hungary. If we ever get to Budapest, which I bet we will (and I’ll have to explain to everyone that even though I have a Hungarian last name I don’t speak a lick of the language), this is totally the place we’ll seek out. It will go well with the picture of Sharon with the Mary Tyler Moore statue in Minneapolis.
- Sometimes we bloggers write about upcoming events like the sky is falling. This is especially true if we don’t know what’s coming. On May 30th, British Airways’ new award charts went live and Nick from Frequent Miler was there to remind us that things weren’t as bad as we had suspected. I’ll still be able to use my BA Avios for the rare times AA releases saver space on flights I want to take from Orlando (which is almost never).
- American Express announced that Priority Pass memberships earned with their cards will no longer have access to locations other than lounges, like the restaurants which have been recently added to the network. Matthew from Live and Let’s Fly spells out how AMEX totally botched this enhancement. Personally, this is one more reason I’m not sad I canceled my Platinum Card.
- Kelly from Greetings From Kelly writes about what she keeps in a “Road Trip Carry-On”. Just like the things you want to keep with you on a plane, these are the items you want to make sure you have in the car instead of having them locked in a bag in the trunk. This is the most brilliant idea since Greg from Frequent Miler introduced me to the idea of a travel wallet.
- MileNerd has “retired” from blogging but every once in a while we get a new post about whatever’s on his mind. This story about his life-long obsession with TV game shows and how that eventually paid off was a great read.
- Gary from View from the Wing has been following the story of rapper Meek Mill and his ban from the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas for apparently no reason whatsoever. After Meek went public about the hotel’s list of banned African American recording artists, the hotel eventually had to apologize to him and say they’re not racist (which is never a good place to be). If you’ve never heard of Meek Mill, here’s his video with Drake. You know, the rapper who’s going nuts because the Toronto Raptors are in the NBA Finals.
- Finally Lucky (Ben) from One Mile at a Time shared a story about a reader who wrote to him complaining about Alaska Airlines canceling their tickets because of apparent rules violations. Not knowing the entire story always makes it difficult to know who’s right but Ben spells out a number of things you can to when booking award tickets to keep you from looking like a criminal.

It’s true about Peter Faulk (Columbo). Tony Curtis’s family) is from Hungary.
