There Are No Regular Mirrors In WDW’s And DL Parks’ Restrooms. What’s Up With That?

by SharonKurheg

Well, it’s not like there are “no mirrors at all,” but did you ever notice there aren’t any mirrors at the sinks at the public restrooms of Disneyland and Walt Disney World parks? We thought that was pretty weird, so we did some research to figure out why…

When you go to a Disney park, there are lots of things purposely planned that you never even think of. Trash cans are placed close enough to each other so they’re just short of the distance people are willing to hold garbage before throwing it on the ground. Gum isn’t sold so there’s less of it to be scraped up from the ground and walls. There’s even a fountain near Cinderella Castle at WDW where you only get to see Cinderella wearing a crown if you’re a child (Or if you bend down. Or if you’re 4’6″, like me).

And along with that, if you go to the restroom at a Disney park in the U.S., there aren’t any mirrors by the sinks. That’s pretty unusual. What’s up with that?

It turns out if there aren’t mirrors by the sinks, it makes a trip to the restroom more efficient. You go in, do your business, wash your hands and leave. No spending precious sink space reapplying makeup, fixing your hair, squeezing that zit or whatever. And especially when there’s a queue for the ladies room (cuz there’s ALWAYS a queue for the ladies’ room), chances are someone else needs to wash his/her hands, so the faster you can get away from the sink, the better.

Don’t worry, though – Disney doesn’t leave you completely mirrorless – there’s always a mirror SOMEWHERE. it could be right next to the entry/exit door, or adjacent to the sinks. But it’s there. And 99% of the time it’s placed so if you’re using it, you won’t be holding up people washing their hands at the sink.

Oh, and the restrooms in the hotel lobbies? THEY all have mirrors at the sinks, like these at the Polynesian, Contemporary and Grand Floridian Resort Hotels. Less chance to queue, I guess.

And now you know 😉
