Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- Aviation news isn’t often exciting but when all three CEO’s of the major airlines take out an editorial post in USA Today, people take notice. Gary from View From the Wing parses their article paragraph by paragraph and shows how almost everything they stated is
a liemisleading. - We’re headed to Japan in 2020 so we’re looking to interesting places to stay. We already are looking to stay somewhere near the hot-spring theme park and now Ben from One Mile at a Time shares about the Toyko hotel that features a full flight simulator.
- Unless you live under a rock, you’ve heard that Amazon Prime Day is on July 15th and 16th. Doctor of Credit shares information about how Amazon isn’t the only one trying to get some action that day. Target has launched counter-offers, some of which are already available.
- The points and miles game sometimes appears to be a huge game of cat and mouse. We like to think ourselves as Jerry always being one step ahead of Tom the cat. American Express has their own RAT team whose only purpose is to crack down on cheaters (RATS) and Frequent Miler writes about how they are now taking back referral bonuses for people who referred themselves for AMEX cards. I never did this because while this seemed to be possible, I’m happy to be the tortoise in the miles and points game instead of the hare.
- We all have the award bookings that make us question if it’s all worth it. Ed from Pizza in Motion writes about his saga with United. I’ll be honest, after reading about half of this my head began to hurt imagining how I would have felt in the same situation. I’m glad it’s over for him and the trip happened and appears to turn out worth all the #struggle.
- Matthew from Live and Let’s Fly writes about how United will have to cancel another 8,000 flights due to the delays with the recertification of the 737-MAX. Now I’m glad I never booked a flight on that plane, it doesn’t mean that I couldn’t be affected by the schedule changes.
