Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- Spending way too much time planning a trip is a problem I think many of us have. I’ve written about my own struggle with this problem so I can totally relate with this article from The Points of Life which, among other things, compares staying up until the wee hours of the morning looking at award ticket options to those who stay up all night playing video games. Not that I’ve ever done either of those before (but come on, it was Bioshock Infinite and that game was AWESOME!)
- When renting a car, you want to make sure you have insurance in case of damages, and here’s information on how to get that coverage without buying it from the rental car company. Road Warriorette writes about what happens when you get charged for damages that were there when you rented the car.
- The problems with the 737-MAX seem to keep dragging on and on. It appears that Southwest just wants to be able to make plans instead of having to adjust every few months. Miles to Memories writes how they’ve removed the plane from their schedule until at least 2020.
- Writing about the anxiety we all get when booking award reservations. I wrote this week about my own weakness and Nick from Frequent Miler had two instances this week where he was double guessing his decision. Luckily, Greg from Frequent Miler is there to do what he does best. Which is writing an amazingly in-depth article about all the things you can think about to determine if your redemption is a good one. The number of things to consider is truly dizzying.
- Using shopping portals is a great way to earn some extra miles buying things you’d be getting anyway. Deals We Like writes about a special going on at Southwest’s portal thru August 18th where you can get up to 2,000 extra miles.
- Ed from Pizza in Motion has had his share of problems recently when it comes to booking travel for himself and his family. Good customer service still exists and it was finally nice to see someone at United go out of their way to help when another of his summer travel plans went haywire. It just goes to show if you don’t become the problem, you just might find the rep that’s a needle in a haystack.
- Gary from View from the Wing shared a photo from a reader who found a box of ammo on top of the safe when getting to their room. While many were shocked, I have a few friends who felt that this would be the best hotel amenity they could imagine. Wherever you stand, I’d imagine the ammo might have been in the safe before the previous guest left but we all know how UNsafe those safes are, right?
- Finally, I needed to mention a newspaper article that’s caused Disney fans on the internet (well at least on Facebook and Twitter), to explode. An article in the New York Post called “Sorry, childless millennials going to Disney World is weird”. My first thought was that I couldn’t believe people were getting all worked up about an article from the Post. They must not be from New York. Do they know what is written in the Post on a daily basis?? They knew what click bait was before the internet was even invented. So before you get all upset, take a deep breath and
