Has Anyone Else Noticed This About The TWA Hotel?

by SharonKurheg

Joe’s in New York for two weeks on a business trip so instead of trying to surprise him again by just showing up (I never would have been able to top this), we planned that I would join him for part of the trip.

His hotel is right near JFK, so in the interest of convenience, that’s the airport I flew into. My flight was in the mid-afternoon and I hadn’t had dinner, so when I landed, we decided to check out one of the restaurants at the still-relatively-newly opened TWA Hotel.

I won’t go into a whole lot about the TWA Hotel just yet, mainly because we’re staying there for two nights in December, and I’m sure we’ll have plenty to say then. For now, suffice to say that I don’t think you can take a bad picture of the place ;-).

I had posted a bunch of photos I had taken of the hotel onto Facebook, and all of a sudden, I got a bunch of replies about one in particular.

It’s my picture of the concourse, which is one of the long hallways/entryways to the hotel from JFK’s Jetblue Terminal 5:

Do you see anything? Especially at first glance? How about if you look at the thumbnail?

Here’s what my friends said:

  • “Ok I admit it I saw a woman wearing a bra. Sue me” (Michael I.)
  • “I’m sorry, but everytime this photo crosses my feed. I first see a bra” (Steven C.)
  • (To Steven C’s post) “Ditto” (Gary A.)
  • “All I see in the…picture is a big giant white bra.” (Allison D.)
  • (To Allison’s post) “I thought it was just me!” (Janice T.)
  • “Bra and belly button” (John K.)

At first glance, I admittedly saw the white bra, too.

I Googled as many ways as I could think of to see if the “bra look” was an intentional part of the design, but I’ve found no such thing. So I guess either it was a conscious design decision that was left unsaid, something that was done subconsciously, or my friends and I think about sex a lot 😉

Do you see it, too?

*** Many thanks to Michael I., Steven C., Gary A., Allison D., Janice T. and John K., who all admitted to seeing a bra 😉

Well, Sharon, at least you received a lot of support for your photograph and were not strapped for comments — but please keep us abreast on your stay at this hotel property in December; and get any complaints about it off of your chest.

Your comments were udderly punny, Brian. They made me titter. 😉
